FIS Nordic Combined World Cup Will Be Held In The Schladming-Dachstein Region Of Styria On Friday & Saturday.

When the world's best Nordic all-rounders meet in Ramsau am Dachstein, the region once again becomes the center of winter sports. The long-established Nordic Combined World Cup events have been a fixture on the international competition calendar for years – and thrill spectators with exciting races, breathtaking scenery, and a truly goosebump-inducing atmosphere.

The challenging cross-country ski track in the 1999 World Championship venue tests the athletes anew each year – fitness, technique, and fighting spirit are essential. Following their successful World Cup debut, the women are also returning to Styria for the fourth time , promising thrilling duels and top-level athletic performances.

Since the 1995/96 season , the Ramsau am Dachstein cross-country skiing region has been a permanent fixture on the FIS World Cup calendar . More than 100 athletes from all over the world compete here for valuable World Cup points – accompanied by a unique atmosphere and genuine Styrian hospitality.

The traditional Nordic Combined World Cup competitions have been a fixture on the international competition calendar for years and thrill spectators with exciting races, impressive scenery, and a goosebump-inducing atmosphere. This coming Friday and Saturday (December 19/20), the FIS World Cup will be held at the cross-country skiing stadium with four individual competitions.

A special treat for all spectators: Admission is free. More than 100 athletes from around the world will compete for valuable World Cup points in the demanding combined event of ski jumping and cross-country skiing. The challenging course at the 1999 World Championship venue demands stamina, technique, and fighting spirit – year after year, it pushes the Nordic combined athletes to their limits. Following their successful World Cup debut three years ago, the women are also returning to Styria for the fourth time, promising top-level performances and thrilling duels.

A red-white-red Nordic combined festival is in sight. The signs for gripping competitions could hardly be better, as Austria's Nordic combined athletes are currently in world-class form. The level of competition at the top is remarkable: Six Austrians are currently among the top 11 in the overall World Cup standings.

  • Johannes Lamparter celebrated his 20th World Cup victory in Trondheim, and Thomas Rettenegger has also already secured a win this season.
  • Particularly pleasing for local fans is the fact that Ramsau native Franz Josef Rehrl arrives at the home race with two podium finishes under his belt. In Trondheim, he finished second behind Lamparter and had previously secured third place in the mass start.
  • Paul Walcher, another athlete from WSV Ramsau, has also recently achieved top results and will bolster the ranks of the local favorites.
  • There's also reason to celebrate among the women: 17-year-old Katharina Gruber celebrated her first World Cup victory in Trondheim, underlining the high level of the Austrian Nordic combined skiers. In Ramsau am Dachstein, the young athlete will attempt to build on this success. "The fact that our local heroes are currently in absolutely top form makes the home race something truly special. Ramsau am Dachstein is the perfect venue for major Nordic skiing events.

Center for Nordic Skiing: The Ramsau am Dachstein cross-country skiing region has long been established as a center for Nordic skiing. Since the 1995/96 season, the resort has been a fixture on the FIS World Cup calendar. The best athletes from around the world compete here year after year. Many of them already complete numerous jumps and kilometers of trails in the region during their pre-season training – accompanied by genuine Styrian hospitality and a unique atmosphere. Most trails offer magnificent views of the imposing south faces of the Dachstein, Styria's highest mountain.
