Salomon TV Welcomes The Return Of Winter With New Lineup Of Episodes For 2021-22 Season

It’s November, and for fans of Salomon—the outdoor brand that has been making winter sports equipment in the French Alps since 1947—that means a new season of Salomon TV films to get skiers and snowboarders stoked for the coming winter. After a 2020-21 skiing and riding season that was limited in many locations around the globe, the anticipation for powdery days might be at an all-time high.

The 2021-2022 winter lineup of episodes from the award-winning Salomon TV franchise features a little bit of everything—big pillow lines and high-speed charging from Salomon’s freeski athlete team; a new feature film from the Blank Collective of freeski athletes; a personal look at how one ski-town teenager found a mentor to help tackle his anxiety-inducing concerns for the environment; a behind-the-scenes look at the life of World Cup Giant Slalom champion ski racer Marta Bassino and much more.

Already, Salomon TV has released two episodes of a freeski series called Blank Slate, one filmed at the French ski resort of Les Arcs, and one filmed in the Lake Tahoe backcountry in the US. The concept was simple: send a team of freeskiers to an untouched powdery zone and let them paint lines down a blank canvas using the new QST Blank ski. Watch Fab Maierhofer, Victor Galuchot, Lalo Rambaud and Gaetan Gaudissard in Blank Slate: Les Arcs as they take an untracked face and use it as a blank canvas. In Blank Slate: Lake Tahoe Josh Daiek, Trevor Semmens, Mali Noyes and Drew Petersen use their individual styles to tear up another powdery zone.

The crew from the Blank Collective are back for another installment of good, old fashioned ski porn in their seventh film,Tales from Cascadia. Starring a host of Salomon freeski athletes, including Stan Rey and Alexi Godbout (producer/co-director with Jeff Thomas), the film received rave reviews from crowds at the High-Five Film Festival in Annecy, France and won the award for Film of the Year at the iF3 Festival. It debuted on Salomon TV on November 9th.

In Sam and Me, pro skier/filmmaker Mike Douglas plays the role of mentor to 13-year-old Whistler skier Sam Tierney who is losing sleep due to his anxiety over climate change. In an attempt to ease his stress, Sam wrote to Douglas, a pro skier and climate advocate, asking for advice. Seeing some of his own young self in Sam, Mike suggests a weekly ski meet-up to talk about climate, skiing and life. Look for Sam and Me (produced by Switchback Entertainment) in December on Salomon TV.

Also in December, Salomon alpine racer Marta Bassino takes center stage in La Famiglia, which chronicles her Crystal Globe-winning season on the FIS Alpine World Cup tour. The 25-year-old offers inside access to her family support team and Salomon provides a behind-the-scenes look at the preparation by its technicians to help the Italian racer achieve her dream of winning the Giant Slalom overall title. As the pressure builds over the course of the season, the power of Bassino’s supporting families makes the difference.

In Your Turn, which debuted in October, freeski athletes Stan Rey, Mike Douglas, Drew Petersen and Emma Patterson put the new Salomon all-mountain Stance ski to the test in their own personal quest for the perfect turn.

In January, Salomon freeski athlete Drew Peterson’s uses his own voice to explain his personal struggles with depression in a moving short film called Ups and Downs, which he co-produced with Mike Brown and Sweetgrass Productions. In presenting his honest personal story at the various theater stops of Salomon’s Quality Ski Film Tour in the US, Peterson has received numerous standing ovations.

Later this winter, Salomon athlete Mali Noyes and five other women head to the Tetons in Wyoming for a backcountry adventure in Girl Crush. Among the cast is one of Noyes’ heroes, professional mountain guide Jess Baker. The all-woman crew battles tricky snowy conditions in the Tetons while camping at the base of Mount Moran for five nights of powder skiing.

Finally, Salomon will continue to offer educational videos on backcountry skiing topics, with insight from its freeski athlete team members. The video series—which launched last winter to much praise from the ski community—will cover topics like how to choose your line, what to bring in your repair kit, how to ski the steeps, winter camping, what to do in an avalanche scenario, and much more. Look for the videos to drop over the course of the coming season.
