Safety First At Minnesota Ski Areas This Winter

Even though the trees are still changing, winter in Minnesota is just around the corner. Ski hills across the state will be open for the ski, snowboard and tubing season, but the guest experience will be a little different this year to promote a safe experience for all.

IT'S SAFETY FIRST AT MINNESOTA SKI AREAS THIS WINTER. Ski hills will open for the season with guidelines in place to keep skiing and boarding safe.

“We value and prioritize the health of our guests, employees, volunteers and local community members,” said Bo Bigelow, executive director of the Minnesota Ski Areas Association. “Our member ski areas across the state will be following all CDC, state and local public health orders. We want our guests to enjoy the fun of snowsports this winter, so we need everyone’s help in following the rules—that way, we can protect the health and safety of our skiing and snowboarding community.”

Here’s what visitors should know before visiting a Minnesota Ski Area this winter:

• If you are feeling sick, please stay home.
• Know before you go. Check the ski area’s website a day or two in advance to familiarize yourself with the specific policies in place.
• Face coverings will be required both indoors and outdoors, while in line and riding the lift.
• Minnesota Ski Areas will be following all physical distancing guidelines.
• Chalet space will be limited, so consider booting up in your vehicle.
• Food & Beverage will be available following current MN Stay Safe guidelines. Please check ski destination website for specific details and restrictions.
• Ski areas will be offering lessons and other programs this year.
• Be sure to check the ski area’s individual website before you go each time, as specific policies may change thought out the season.

“We are looking forward to getting back on the slopes,” said Bigelow. “With everyone’s cooperation, our outdoor community will be able to make the most of the Minnesota winter.”
