Purgatory Resort Announces Helluva Weekend Event Lineup

Purgatory Resort announces a new event series for the 2023 ski season. The Helluva Weekend is a celebration of mountain culture in Southwest Colorado, set in the stunning San Juan Mountain. Events and activities include a Balloon Night Glow, an Alpenglow Snowshoe tour, live music, fireworks, and family-friendly activities on the mountain.

“So far, it's been a helluva season, and we have a lot to celebrate this winter,” said Purgatory General Manager, Dave Rathbun. “This event brings together locals and visitors, and furthers our commitment to creating new events that provide a memorable experience for locals, visitors and passholders.”

Helluva Weekend Schedule of Events, March 2 - 5

Thursday, March 2:

• Alpenglow Snowshoe + Charcuterie takes aprés ski to new heights, featuring a sunset snowshoe tour followed by appetizers and libations at the Powderhouse from 3-7 pm. Tickets cost $70 per person.
• Drew Emmitt, of Leftover Salmon, and Friends will jam bluegrass tunes on the beach in front of Purgy’s from 4-6 pm.

Friday, March 3:

• Alpenglow Snowshoe + Charcuterie tour will be offered again from 3-7 pm.
• Balloon Glow from 3 - 6 pm, where spectators will see a hot air balloon light up the Village Plaza base area accompanied by live music.
• The Sweet Lillies will heat up The Beach with a high-energy bluegrass performance from 4-9 pm during the balloon glow.
• Night tubing will be offered from 3-6 pm. The mountain coaster will also be available from 11 am - 4 pm.

Saturday, March 4:

• Uncle Clyde’s Run & Slide at the Tubing Hill from 10 am to 1:30 pm. The whackiest relay race in Durango, most laps wins! $40 per person, pre-registration is recommended.
• Night tubing will be available from 3-6 pm. The mountain coaster will also operate from 11 am - 4 pm.
• Coors Light Party - enter to win giveaways at Paradise Pizzeria from 3-4 pm.
• Fireworks display - celebrate Saturday night by lighting up the base area with a spectacular fireworks show at 6 pm.
