Promising Interim Summer Results For 2025 For Carinthian Lift Co’s

Carinthia's summer mountain railways, with their 14 adventure mountains and the Flow Trails Carinthia – five cable cars with special biking offers – are drawing a very positive interim conclusion. They are entering the second half of the season with great optimism and are expecting around 1.1 million guests by November 2nd.

Anyone visiting Carinthia's adventure mountains enjoys a unique blend of panoramic views, fresh mountain air, and active diversity. Whether leisurely hikes, action-packed flow trails for mountain bikers, or family outings to playgrounds, summer toboggan runs, and themed trails – the summer mountain lifts attract numerous guests. "June was very good, July was mixed due to the weather, and August is developing brilliantly," says Josef Bogensperger Jr., chairman of the cable car industry group in the Carinthian Chamber of Commerce, giving a positive interim assessment. "We expect to welcome around 1.1 million guests by the end of the season." This confirms Carinthia's summer mountain lifts and flow trails as a stable and central pillar of tourism this year. "Once again, it's been demonstrated that investments in attractive adventure offerings are worthwhile. We make a significant contribution to Carinthia's attractiveness as a summer holiday destination, especially in the pre- and post-season," emphasizes the group chairman.

All-weather adventure offers are crucial to success

The fact that the Carinthian cable car industry was able to welcome many guests even in the mixed weather of July is due to the numerous adventure attractions that are fun in (almost) any weather. For the future, it will be crucial to create more all-weather offerings – but this will also require active support from politicians.

  • BAD KLEINKIRCHHEIM: "So far, we've seen a significant increase in our summer guests and are very pleased with the way the season has gone. The investments we've made in recent years in the adventure infrastructure surrounding the cable cars are already clearly showing their effects," explains Hansjörg Pflauder, CEO of Bad Kleinkirchheimer Bergbahnen.
  • GERLITZEN ALPE: “We are very satisfied with the season so far and are looking forward to the coming autumn with confidence and anticipation,” emphasizes Manuel Kapeller-Hopfgartner, authorized representative of the Gerlitzen Alpe Bergbahnen.
  • GOLDECK: "We are very optimistic about the summer of 2025 and expect more guests than in 2024. This is also due to the attractiveness of our new offerings: the children's playground at the Seehütte, the Goldalm Mountain Dining mountain restaurant, and the two new adventure hiking trails - the Mission Goldalm - which lead from the mountain station and the Seetal car park to the Goldalm," reports Erik Zechmann, Managing Director of Goldeck Bergbahnen.
  • ANKOGEL: “By the end of October, we expect a similar number, if not more, summer guests than in 2024 – and we are very pleased with this development,” emphasizes Adi Gugganig, technical director of the new operator of the Ankogel Bergbahnen, which started operations in June 2025.
  • HILIGENBLUT: “The development of our summer guests is extremely encouraging – we are very satisfied with the figures so far,” explains Christian Prinz, Managing Director of the Großglockner Bergbahnen in Heiligenblut.
  • KLIPPITZTÖRL: "We are pleased with the even stronger demand than last year. Our new features – such as the ball tower at Klippitzsee – have been particularly well-received," reports Alexandra Nabi from the cable cars at Klippitztörl.
  • WEISSENSEE: "The summer, which began on May 1, 2025, is developing very well for us. Our attractive combination of hiking, biking, and the lake is proving very popular. Therefore, we expect a summer at least as good as last year," says Christoph Rupitsch, Managing Director of the Weissensee Bergbahn, summarizing his assessment of the season.

Cable car summer operation until 2 November 2025

This year, summer cable car operations will last a total of 186 days, ending on November 2, 2025. The cable cars in Bad Kleinkirchheim, on the Gerlitzen Alpe, Turracher Höhe, and Petzen will remain open until this date, while the remaining lifts will begin their autumn break earlier. "The successes so far clearly demonstrate: investments in experience quality are worthwhile. We will continue consistently down this path to make Carinthia even more attractive as a summer destination," Bogensperger concluded.
