Pacific Group Resorts Purchases SilverStar Mountain Resort From POWDR,

Pacific Group Resorts (PGR), a Park City, Utah–based resort operator, confirmed it has acquired SilverStar Mountain Resort in Vernon, British Columbia, from POWDR in a transaction announced on Nov. 25, 2025. Company leaders said there will be no operational changes for the 2025–26 season, with the existing SilverStar management team and season-pass programs remaining in place while PGR integrates the resort into its portfolio.

The purchase marks a milestone for PGR as it expands its footprint in Canada; SilverStar becomes the company’s largest ski area and one of the biggest in North America, with more than 3,300 acres of skiable terrain and roughly 133 trails. PGR’s leadership framed the acquisition as a strategic fit, citing SilverStar’s strong community, modern lift infrastructure, and vibrant mid‑mountain village as reasons the resort aligns with PGR’s operating model.

PGR’s leadership framed the acquisition as a strategic fit with its existing Canadian operations, citing experience operating Mount Washington Alpine Resort on Vancouver Island and a desire to preserve SilverStar’s community-driven character. Mark K. Fischer, PGR president and CEO, described SilverStar as aligning with the company’s values and long-term vision for mountain resort stewardship.

PGR has committed to no operational changes for the 2025–2026 season, keeping the existing SilverStar leadership team in place and honoring current season passes and programs to ensure continuity for guests and staff. Local stakeholders and resort-goers have reacted with cautious optimism, noting that the timing of the sale—right before peak season—puts a premium on steady operations and clear communication from the new owners

Its portfolio already included Jay Peak (Vermont), Wintergreen Resort (Virginia), Mount Washington Alpine Resort (Vancouver Island, B.C.), Wisp Resort (Maryland), and Powderhorn Mountain Resort (Colorado), and the company also manages mountain operations at Ragged Mountain (New Hampshire); combined, PGR operates thousands of acres of ski terrain and a broad mix of hospitality and recreation assets. The group has emphasized year‑round resort experiences, combining winter sports with golf, lodging, food and beverage, and other amenities as part of its growth strategy

SilverStar Mountain Resort is one of British Columbia’s largest and most diverse ski areas, with a vertical of about 760 m (2,500 ft), a top elevation near 1,915 m, and a long history as a four‑season destination with a distinctive Victorian‑style village and extensive summer programming. The mountain has been recognized in recent travel rankings and is known for its mix of beginner, intermediate and expert terrain, a modern lift fleet, and a reputation for family‑friendly amenities and mountain‑village character.

Local officials and resort stakeholders welcomed the news cautiously, noting that continuity of operations and retention of local staff were immediate priorities while longer‑term plans will be developed in consultation with the SilverStar community. PGR said it will work with existing leadership and local partners as it finalizes integration details and explores investments to support guest experience and infrastructure over time
