Oliver Hammel Takes Over Operational Management Of Jungfrau Lift Co

Oliver Hammel has taken over operational management of Jungfrau Railways. He succeeds Urs Kessler, who retired after 38 years with Jungfrau Railways and 17 years at its helm.

After the induction program, Oliver Hammel is now looking forward to tackling his new role. "During the induction program, I met people with diverse backgrounds who work with passion, joy, and a wealth of expertise every day to ensure the success of Jungfrau Railways."

Many strategic projects, such as the renovation of the Firstbahn cable car or the construction of the Hintisberg alpine solar power plant, have been clearly initiated and are underway. "We will continue to work on these projects in the future and thus ensure the long-term and sustainable success of the company," explains the 42-year-old.

As is customary in such positions, Oliver Hammel will not make any public statements until approximately 100 days in office. This will be on Thursday, August 28, 2025, when Jungfraubahn Holding AG announces its half-year results.

Before moving from Bangkok to Interlaken, Oliver Hammel worked for the global company DKSH since 2015. Most recently, he served as Director of the Technology Division for the markets of Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar (Burma).

The 42-year-old was born in Liestal (BL) and completed an apprenticeship as a designer at Scholl in Safenwil. He completed various advanced training courses in leadership and marketing/sales. Oliver Hammel is married, has a 9-year-old daughter, and lives in Interlaken
