New Infrastructure Funding Available For Vorarlberg's Smallest Ski Areas

Up to 100,000 euros in funding are available to Vorarlberg's smallest ski areas for the maintenance of their facilities this year and next.
There is good news for the small and micro ski areas in Vorarlberg: The funding for the maintenance of these facilities was launched for the third time in 2021 and 2022. On the initiative of the specialist group for cable cars, the funding pot has been in place with the state of Vorarlberg since 2017.
“Since the start of funding four years ago, we have already been able to financially support or commit to 26 projects. This helps many operators enormously. We are proud that we can realize the funding again in this very difficult year for our branch ”explains Andreas Gapp, chairman of the Vorarlberger Seilbahnen group.
A funding amount of 100,000 euros is available per year. The state and the specialist group each share half of the funding for investments in maintenance measures and for maintaining lift operations in small and micro ski areas. Andreas Gapp underlines the importance of the smaller cable car companies in Vorarlberg: “Small and very small ski areas, which are mostly in the vicinity of large conurbations, represent an important offer for young people and families there. They offer young people in particular the opportunity to practice skiing and help with bringing young people to the slopes. That is why the specialist group and the Vorarlberg winter sports region support the initiative out of conviction. "
Ski lift companies in small and micro-ski areas that are in an economically difficult situation can apply. Measures are supported that secure the existing building in the long term or significantly improve profitability. According to the funding guidelines, technical snow-making systems cannot be taken into account. Applications can be submitted to the office of the Vorarlberg state government.
