Nassfeld Begins Night Skiing

Let there be light! When the sun sets behind the mountains overlooking the Austrian ski area of Nassfeld, floodlights are switched on and the ski day continues. Every Saturday in January, February and first week in March, the lights are on from 6.30 pm until 9.00 pm on the 2200m specially dedicated piste. Skiing under the stars is a unique experience that winter sport enthusiasts should try.

Whether youre a skier or boarder, there are never enough hours in the day where you can be on the slopes  so having extra time to hit the piste is a bonus  especially if you want a great-value long-weekend trip away.

One of Austria's Top 10 resorts, Nassfeld’s vast area is very snow-reliable and has a wide range of intermediate slopes. It also records the highest average number of sunshine hours of any Austrian resort!

With 30 ski lifts and 110 kilometres of piste you are spoiled for choice. Nassfeld has the longest gondola - the four-mile Millennium Express - and the floodlit run is part of the seven-mile Carnia run.

Nassfeld is the ideal destination for a long-weekend as it takes just one hour to transfer from the airport to the resort. Klagenfurt airport, which has twice-weekly direct EasyJet flights from London Gatwick, prides itself on the speed with which it gets passengers through the terminal. Flights depart Gatwick on Saturdays at 10:50, arriving at 14.05  meaning you can enjoy at least five hours skiing on the same day you fly! Return flights are on Wednesday from Klagenfurt at 10:55, Arriving 12:10 (flight times vary in on some dates.)

To encourage visitors this winter selected hotels in Nassfeld are offering free transport to and from the airport. When you arrive, a vehicle will be waiting to whisk you straight to the resort  saving more than 200 return (or approximately £170). And with flight prices from just £11 you can enjoy a quality trip at a bargain price.
