Mt Hood Meadows' Cooper Spur Mt. Resort Prepares for July 1 Reopening

Cooper Spur Mt. Resort is preparing to reopen for overnight lodging beginning July 1. The resort is located on the north side of Mt. Hood and features cabins, condos and mountain lodge rooms, as well as the Crooked Tree Tavern.

Resort General Manager Barbara Basham says the focus on reopening will be on the spacious cabins and condos, which provide for a natural social distancing experience. “These units are spread around our grounds and feature full kitchens, dining area and living room with fireplace, as well as two bedrooms on the main floor and a loft bedroom. They allow for families to comfortably distance themselves but still be surrounded by the nature of Mt. Hood.”

Basham says social distancing practices have been developed for lodging and the restaurant following CDC, Oregon Restaurant Lodging Association, National Restaurant Association and other guidance. The team has been involved in putting the measures together and training to the new procedures. All team members wear face coverings, which will also be offered complimentary to guests. “We have enhanced our cleaning regimens with U.V. sanitation and steam cleaning along with disinfectants recommended for killing the virus. We also plan on allowing for 48 to 72 hours between stays in units to further reduce the risk of infection. We want our team and our guests to feel comfortable when staying here at Cooper Spur Mt. Resort.”

The Crooked Tree Tavern will also provide take and bake items daily beginning July 1, and will have a limited menu in restaurant dining for lunch and dinner Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays beginning July 3. The restaurant has just completed a major kitchen remodel and is gearing up for summer guests and small weddings scheduled for later in the summer.  There will also be an expanded outdoor seating area for those that would prefer not to sit indoors.

The team has also been making improvements to the three miles of hiking and biking trails at Cooper Spur Mt. Resort, which is easily accessed from the property. Beyond the trails, Cooper Spur has a tennis court, basketball hoop and volleyball court in addition to a large great lawn area for guests to enjoy.
