Lara Gut-Behrami Is Out With A Torn Cruciate Ligament.

Lara Gut-Behrami will not be able to compete in the 2025/26 season. Following her training crash last Thursday in Copper Mountain, Colorado, the Olympic Super-G champion will undergo knee surgery. The operation is scheduled to take place sometime next week.
After returning to Switzerland on Sunday, Lara Gut-Behrami underwent further comprehensive examinations. On Wednesday evening, the 34-year-old from Ticino received confirmation: she had suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, a torn medial collateral ligament, and a torn meniscus in her left knee.
“I had imagined the next few months very differently and was really looking forward to the rest of the ski season,” says Lara Gut-Behrami. “We have recently experienced dramatic events in our sport, fatal accidents involving young athletes. I believe that a knee injury, however complex it may be, cannot be considered a tragedy.”
Lara Gut-Behrami had announced some time ago that she would end her career after the 2025/26 season. Now she is leaving her sporting future open: "My goal is to fully recover from this injury and regain my full performance level. Only then will I know what the future holds for me."
Beat Tschuor, head coach of Swiss-Ski's women's alpine skiing team, says: "The Winter Olympics in her second home, Italy, were Lara's last major career goal. This serious injury is all the more bitter. We all hope that Lara's surgery and rehabilitation go as well as possible and that she makes a full recovery – whether to continue her career or to live a pain-free life after her elite sporting days. Her absence is, of course, a significant blow; the team will miss her not only as an athlete but also as a person during the Olympic season."
