Jim McNamara Joins AMG Group As Sales Director

AMG Group, a leading provider of premium outdoor and action sports brands, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jim McNamara as Sales Director, effective Monday the 21st of July 2025.

With over 20 years of commercial and leadership experience in the retail and outdoor sectors, McNamara brings a proven track record of delivering strategic growth and building high-performance teams. His extensive background includes senior roles at JD Outdoors, where he was instrumental in driving market expansion and strengthening key partnerships.

In his new role, McNamara will be responsible for leading AMG Group’s sales strategy across all brand portfolios, enhancing customer engagement, and identifying new opportunities for growth across domestic and international markets.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jim to the AMG team,” said Rob Birrell, Managing Director of AMG Group. “His industry expertise, team leadership, and love of the outdoors will play a critical role in driving our commercial success and supporting the next phase of our long-term strategic objectives. Jim is also already known to several of the AMG team, supporting his transition into our business and his new role”

Jim McNamara added, “I'm delighted to be joining AMG Group as Sales Director. Like so many young people, my first trips into the outdoors were spent with a Vango rucksack and sleeping in a Vango tent. As such, this role feels like a natural fit!

"It is a real privilege to join a business with such a rich heritage and a leading position in the UK outdoor market, and I look forward to working closely with the AMG team and our retail partners to help shape the next chapter of growth”.

Since 1966, AMG Group has a long heritage of innovating, developing, and distributing cutting edge outdoor equipment, led by the Vango brand, including pioneering new tents, rucksacks, awnings, furniture, camping accessories and footwear. Headquartered in Port Glasgow, AMG Group brands and products are available in over 30 countries.
