Ikon Pass Reinforces Commitment To Protect Our Winters

Ikon Pass is renewing its partnership with Protect Our Winters (POW) through a Summit Level donation, designed to further climate change education and advocacy. The 25k donation aims to support industry-led programs that unite and mobilize the global snow sports community against climate change and enhance education, advocacy and community-based activism. Through this reinforced collaboration, Ikon Pass holders will continue to receive a complimentary one-year membership to Protect our Winters, joining a unique community of engaged athletes, respected brands and outdoor enthusiasts.

“We are proud to reaffirm our support of Protect Our Winters and its commitment to tackling climate change,” said Erik Forsell, Chief Marketing Officer for Alterra Mountain Company. “Ikon Pass is a leading force in the industry and beyond, and we are dedicated to playing a key role in creative opportunities and activations to further highlight POW’s important message.”

The partnership between Ikon Pass and POW was recently on full display at Outdoor Retailer Snow Show in Denver, where attendees could collect six commissioned pieces of Ikon Pass artwork with a minimum $1 donation, benefitting the Shane McConkey EcoChallenge, a POW partner. The Shane McConkey EcoChallenge encourages kids to identify and help resolve an environmental concern in their school or community, providing funding for the winning teams who create innovative projects that protect the environment and fight climate change. Ikon Pass matched all donations, gifting a total $5,680 to the EcoChallenge, helping kids promote environmental education and action in their communities.

“As a POW partner, we are honored and excited to benefit from Ikon Pass and POW’s collaborative efforts to mobilize the highly-passionate snow sports community,” said Sherry McConkey, Director and Founder of the Shane McConkey Foundation. “Through this creative initiative, the Ikon Pass is investing in the future generation of outdoor enthusiasts and giving them the means to start finding and implementing solutions to combat climate change within their own community.”

“The time to make crucial and immediate climate action is now and the outdoor community has a unique opportunity to lead,” said Jeremy Jones, Professional Snowboarder and Founder of Protect Our Winters. “We are excited to renew our partnership with Ikon Pass and leverage its robust influence in the highly connected outdoor industry to instill change and create meaningful climate solutions.”

The 2019-2020 Ikon Pass will go on sale in the spring. The $50-valued POW membership for Ikon Pass holders also includes POW die cut stickers, 20% off POW store merchandise, a monthly POW newsletter, and a subscription to the biweekly email newsletter “The Line.”
