Ice- Skates For Ski Slopes; The Next Olympic Sport? Probably Not.

A Czech company has re invented the snowblade.....

Skiskating is a new booming winter sport, a combination of skiing and skating. It’s basically like ice-skating on snow. Skiskates are most likely the world’s shortest skis because the length of the ski base is below 50 cm (20 in). They are actually small enough to fit in a backpack, so users can take them pretty much anywhere. They are used for downhill skiing on the slopes or hiking trails, and for fun in snow parks or on your local sledding hill.

Some people assume it might become the next winter Olympic sport, some presumably being the directors of the company. The reality is that the IOC shows huge reluctance to recognise any sport where the technology is not availabale from a rnage of suppliers.

Skiskates originated in the heart of Europe, the Czech Republic, where they were developed by two friends Zbynek and Michael in 2019. As both friends have been passionate about ice hockey since they were little, they had the brainchild of creating a new winter sport to combine both skiing and skating. They named it - skiskating.

The founders spent countless days and nights of product development, as they were devoted to bringing truly perfect skates for snow, which could be easily attached to ski boots. In addition, they wanted to create skis that fit into a backpack so they could take them anywhere. Without realizing it, they might have very likely created the world’s shortest skis and who knows, the sport might even make it to the Olympic games one day, then again the IOC might have better things to put on the wating list.

The sport of skiskating has become an international sensation after their hugely successful crowdfunding campaigns. The founders have already delivered thousands of pairs of their first model to people from every corner of the world.

As Zbynek, one of the founders said: “We are on a mission to make skiskating the next big thing among winter sports. Our community of skiskaters is growing every day and we’re having more fun than we could ever imagined.”

Skiskates are made locally in the Czech Republic, a country with a long tradition of manufacturing one of the best skis in the world. They are a small company, which employs mainly family and friends from their home town. Their main goal right now is to make skiskating the next big thing among winter sports.

Skiskating is essentially a combination of skiing and skating. This truly unique sport shouldn’t be confused with snowblading or skiboarding, as it genuinely feels like ice skating, just on the snow. Remember Bigfoot skis? Skiskates are much shorter.  The length of the ski base is below 50 cm (20 in) so it feels very natural to those who play ice hockey, ice skate, or even use inline skates.

Skiskates attach right to your ski boots or snowboard boots depending on the model. They are used for downhill skiing on the slopes or hiking trails, and for fun in snow parks or on your local sledding hill. They fit into your backpack so you can take them almost anywhere. Skiskates enable you to skate on snow and perform all kinds of twists, jumps, and tricks. Some people assume it might become the next winter Olympic sport one day, and others... not so much.
