Family activities: Igloos

Although the Famille Plus label allows you to find the perfect resorts for yourself and your little ones, most resorts have fantastic activities and offers for the whole family.

Why not spend the night in an igloo? You have until mid-March to try this experience of a lifetime, which is only possible in the mountains in France, generally above 2,000m and during the coldest months. Who says rare says popular, so remember to book!

Some igloos are traditionally built, while others do not require heavy snow cover because they are created using an inflatable bubble onto which snow is thrown (this is the case for most large igloo ‘village’ type structures). The bubble is then deflated – and you have a real igloo!

Sleep in the highest igloo in France in Val Thorens, stay in a double room in Avoriaz or, if your accommodation is already booked, try the set lunch in Arc 2000. Go snowshoeing under the stars in Combloux, followed by a fondue in a teepee to warm up and a night in an igloo. Build your own igloo in Pyrénées Ariégeoises, and if stargazing’s not really your thing, you can go home once you’re done.

Finally, you have until 2 April to discover a luxury igloo with loos, shower and breathtaking views of Mont Blanc in Arêches-Beaufort.
