FIS Launches E-Game: World Cup Ski Racing

FIS and Session Games are proud to announce the launch of the official E-Game: World Cup Ski Racing, available in the App Store and Google Play on 9th January. The game is free to download and play, with valuable VIP and Race Passes available for purchase in-app.

From the developers behind the #1 hit games Snowboarding The Fourth Phase and Bike Unchained, Vancouver-based Session Games delivers a top E-Game experience. Fans of skiing and racing games play in head-to-head competitions against friends and players around the world. Racing is done with a single finger, so it’s easy to learn. Players are matched up against racers of equal ability across twelve divisions, so everyone has a shot at the medals. Players can work their way up from local races to competing for World Cup points on legendary real-life World Cup slopes.

Players will always have new and exciting races, in all the alpine disciplines: downhill, super-G, giant slalom and slalom. They can expect regular updates with new venues added. Players might even be matched up against a real World Cup racer: look for the authentic account check mark.

Players can create and join teams, and equip themselves with the latest and fastest gear. Session and FIS have partnered with the top equipment manufacturers such as HEAD, Atomic, Rossignol, Fischer, Völkl, Stöckli, Leki, Helly Hansen, and the official clothing outfitter of FIS, Halti. There are many speed suits to wear along with fun animations and effects. Players can even purchase the official virtual speed suits of the Austrian, Swiss, German, and Canadian ski teams, with a portion of the purchases going to the national ski associations.

World Cup Ski Racing is the first game in the partnership between Session Games and FIS. The Session founders are former professional athletes and have a long history in the game industry. One co-founder of Session, Ian Verchere, is a former alpine racer and coach: “I retired from ski racing to get into games over 30 years ago. It’s an honour to share two big passions in one great game experience. Session, along with our partners at FIS, and many of the national ski associations such as Switzerland, Austrian, Germany and Canada, share a mutual desire to grow interest in snow sports. Games are a proven way to build interest and engagement in real-world sports.”

“The World Cup Ski Racing mobile game opens up new possibilities for us,” said Jürg Capol, FIS Marketing Director. “We can introduce the FIS World Cup to new fans, and our existing audience can be more directly engaged through the game. The increased engagement will also be maintained year-round. We're really excited about the game and how the launch will be received.”
