ELZER & HOPFNER: New 8EUB Albonabahn I In Stuben Am Arlberg

The Albona/Valfagehr ski area in Stuben am Arlberg is a varied ski area for everyone looking for limitless fun on the slopes and is also known far beyond the borders of Vorarlberg as the free-ride paradise on the Arlberg. Guaranteed snow and long north slope descents offer maximum skiing pleasure on the mountain where the famous ski pioneer Hannes Schneider learned to ski. The ski area in the west of the Arlberg offers excellent snow and slope conditions until late spring and is therefore an important part of the world-famous Arlberg Ski Arena. The ski areas of St. Anton, St. Christoph, Zürs and Lech can also be reached via the Albonabahn I and its piste connection to the "Alpe Rauz".
The currently existing fixed-grip Albonabahn I double chairlift, which was built in Stuben am Arlberg in 1983, will be replaced this year by a modern monocable gondola with closed transport equipment (gondolas with a capacity of 8 people). The new monocable gondola will in future transport passengers both uphill and downhill and is designed for a transport capacity of 1600 pph.
The renowned cable car planning office Melzer & Hopfner is responsible for the planning and design of the valley and mountain station buildings, coordination of authorities and design overhead management.
The location of the new valley station and the route remain almost the same. The new mountain station moves about 200m towards the valley, right next to the existing mountain restaurant "Albona Mitte".
Melzer & Hopfner brings nature and technology into harmony. When designing and positioning the valley and mountain station buildings, attention was paid to optimal integration into the surrounding area. The buildings impress with their reserved, high-quality design and blend harmoniously into the landscape.
Construction work will start in May and will be completed in November 2023.
Scope of services MELZER & HOPFNER:
