Dopplemayr Builds New Mountain Gondola Lift In Hochsolden

With a state-of-the-art 10-passenger mountain gondola the exclusive Ötztal Hotel Village at 2083 m climbs to a new level of quality in terms of infrastructure. Bergbahnen Sölden lift company entrusted the leading Austrian mountain lift manufacturer "Doppelmayr" to build this new uphill facility, resulting in a massive comfort boost for all winter sports enthusiasts. Barrier-free accessibility and shorter lift riding times are among the highlights.
Holiday makers in Hochsölden have always benefited from its top-notch geographical location. Ski-in and ski-out directly from your hotel door in close vicinity to Sölden's unbeatable 144 slope kilometers, absolute snow reliability thanks to the high altitude and car-free holidays in a traffic-calmed area are just a few of the striking advantages that guests can enjoy. For the upcoming winter season quality is taken to the next level. The former double chairlift is replaced by a comfortable "D-Line" generation mountain lift by Doppelmayr, featuring 23 gondola cabins with an hourly capacity of 1330 persons. The gondola ride from the base station at 1987 m to the top terminal at 2340 m takes just under six minutes.
Start of a new era
All passengers are offered an extensive range of advantages thanks to the new mountain gondola. The roomy 10-passenger cabins boast plenty of space and comfort as well as protection against wind and weather. Also non-skiers can easily reach the Giggijoch area as a popular hot spot in the ski region. The new transport option has many advantages especially for families. For many good reasons: Children and novice skiers can easily access the beginners' areas and take the mountain lift at the end of the day instead of skiing down on red and black ski runs. The slower entry and exit speed in the station buildings are perfectly suitable also for children and elderly people. Barrier-free access makes it easier to transport baby prams. The new gondola lift also ensures that all winter sports fans reach Hochsölden - regardless of snow conditions in autumn and spring. Due to the small number of downhill passengers, there is a peculiarity in the execution of this project: at the middle station passengers can enter or leave the gondola cabins only when uphill riding.
Identical lift track
By replacing the former chairlift by the brand-new mountain gondola, there is a slight adaptation of the 1.2 kilometer long lift route. Only the position of the mountain station changes. In the future, the exit area will be next to the Giggijoch restaurants. The construction works also help to defuse a bottleneck danger spot by broadening the connecting ski slope of the top-to-bottom run. The new Rotkogl Mountain Gondola is to commence operation at the beginning of December 2019.
