Deer Valley Resort & Extell Development Company Unveil Deer Valley East Village

Following the monumental August announcement of “Expanded Excellence,” a collection of transformative resort projects, Deer Valley Resort is excited to reveal the new name for the base village and portal: Deer Valley East Village. The new village is conveniently located along U.S. Route 40 and provides an additional entry point for Deer Valley guests.

Deer Valley East Village, developed by Extell Development Company in collaboration with Deer Valley Resort, will feature a state-of-the-art skier service facility, home to ski school, children’s programs, rentals, retail, and dining options. With 1,200 new parking spaces dedicated for day-skier use, the new base village aims to improve accessibility for the resort and will contribute to the reduction of traffic in the town of Park City.

“At Deer Valley Resort, we are proud of our legacy as a top-tier ski destination, and we’re staying true to our founding principles set over four decades ago,” said Todd Bennett, President & COO of Deer Valley Resort. “This expansion improves our resort’s accessibility and enriches the guest experience with additional world-class amenities. We will honor our history and strengthen our ties to the community as we expand over the next several years.”

Deer Valley East Village sits at the base of the major terrain expansion. Deer Valley will add over 3,700 acres of new ski terrain, encompassing 16 new chairlifts, including a 10-passenger gondola, and provide ski access across 4 new peaks, seamlessly connecting the existing terrain and the new Deer Valley terrain. The new terrain will open over several seasons, with the majority of the new terrain opening in the 2025/2026 winter season. Upon completion, Deer Valley will offer over 5,726 acres of skiable terrain accessed by 37 chairlifts serving 238 ski runs.

Deer Valley East Village’s expansion will feature over 800 hotel rooms, nearly 1,700 residential units, 250,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, and 68,000 square feet for recreation.

Gary Barnett, Founder and Chairman of Extell Development Company, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “Deer Valley East Village is a long-anticipated project that will serve as the heart of the expanded terrain at Deer Valley Resort. With careful planning, we’ve curated a village that will redefine luxury and offer unparalleled amenities for our guests. Our partnership with Deer Valley signifies our dedication to creating a destination where luxury, recreation, and accessibility harmoniously come together.”

A cornerstone of the development, the opening of Grand Hyatt Deer Valley in late 2024 will introduce 387 guest rooms, 40 suites, 55 private residences, and nearly 40,000 square feet of conference and event space. Situated within Deer Valley East Village, this luxury hotel will provide easy access to slopes, winter and summer attractions, and offer exceptional amenities, including dining options, a heated pool, fitness center, and more.

Deer Valley East Village is proceeding rapidly as two additional five-star hotels are in design by world renowned architects, ODA Architecture and KPF, and excavation is scheduled to begin this summer. Marcella, Deer Valley East Village’s estate lots, continue to close with 62 in total, and estate lot owners proceeding with home designs. Related, nestled in the hills overlooking Heber City, Reef Capital Partners’ Marcella Club finalized the commitment of the first Tiger Wood’s golf course in Utah. Reef Capital is furthering the village condominiums and had initiated design with prominent architect, Gomez Vazquez International. The Residences at Pioche Village, a group of studios, one-bedroom, and two- bedroom condominiums immediately adjacent to the Jordanelle Gondola, were released to the market in late December and there are 41 residences contracted and 15 closed to date.
