Copper Mountain Announces Nov. 16 Opening With Top To Bottom Skiing And Riding

Make your way back home to Copper Mountain for Opening Day on Friday, Nov. 16. As construction continues on the American Eagle and American Flyer lifts, the Super Bee Lift out of Copper’s East Village will start turning at 9 a.m. on Friday, giving skiers and snowboarders access to top-to-bottom terrain. The Easy Rider magic carpet will also be open for beginner skiing and riding in Copper’s Center Village. In addition to skiing and riding at Copper, celebrations throughout Welcome Home Weekend include 2 for 1 Rocky Mountain Coaster rides, free live music, giveaways and more.  

Weather depending, the festivities will kickoff at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16 with surprise giveaways from the Welcome Home Squad, raffle prizes, and a visit from Betty the Yeti. At 1 p.m., Summit County’s very own blues band, Chris Bauer Trio, takes the stage in East Village for a free performance.  

On Saturday, Nov. 17, Woodward Copper kicks off its 10th season with the annual Barn Bash. Experience the indoor action sports paradise this is the Woodward Copper barn with free sessions for the first 500 visitors, plus live music, DJ, giveaways, skate bowl expression session, pro athlete autograph signing and the Copper Mountain premiere of new movie “YES, it’s Been 10 Years” presented by YES Snowboards and Zeal Optics. 

On Sunday, East Village will be buzzing with more festivities including live tunes from DJ Rude Boi on Saturday and a free concert by Colorado’s own DeVotchKa on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. 

Come celebrate the official start of the season with great live music, giveaways, après specials and more! Skiing and riding will be based out of East Village off of the Super Bee chairlift. There will be top-to-bottom intermediate skiing from Ptarmigan to Rhapsody to Fairplay then back to the Super Bee in East Village via Skid Road.

We’re also proud to offer beginner terrain on the Easy Rider Magic Carpet out of Center Village and Green Acres between East and Center Villages. All terrain offerings are weather and condition dependent.

Also on Saturday, November 17, the Woodward Barn Bash will feature free sessions, movie premieres and more giveaways. Learn more here.

Friday, November 16

  • 8am – 10am: Grab a burrito, pastry, hot chocolate or coffee from the Welcome Home Squad.
  • 8am – 3pm: DJ Landry
  • 8:45am: First Chair Celebration with Frank, Super Bee chairlift in East Village
  • First in line gets first chair!
  • 96-year-old Copper local Frank Walter will press the start button at the Super Bee.
  • Look out for great giveaways like Under Armour gear and YETI swag.
  • 9am: The Super Bee chair begins turning for public skiing and riding.
  • 1 – 3pm: Live music from Chris Bauer Trio, East Village
  • 3pm: Raffle Drawing
  • Prizes include a YETI, Moonlight Dine & Ski for two, Copper Uncorked tickets for two, skis, a snowboard and more.
  • Must be present to win.

All Day:

  • Head to Ten Mile Tavern for a beer and receive a Copper Pray for Snow candle.
  • 2-for-1 Rocky Mountain Coaster rides in Center Village (weather dependent)
  • 10 Barrel Brewing Mini Pub open in East Village (Keep an eye out for free beer tokens from staff!)
  • Beer tokens are also redeemable at Ten Mile Tavern and Downhill Duke’s in Center Village.

Saturday, November 17
