Blue Tomato Promotes Great Platform For Skateboarding Amateurs - The “Best Foot Forward Europe Tour”

The largest skateboarding tour for amateurs in Europe returns and brings together numerous young talents from many countries.

  • The legendary contest is taking place in nine countries this year
  • Start on April 6th in the Innsbruck skate hall, finale in late summer in Berlin
  • Everyone can take part, there is no entry fee and no age restrictions

On Saturday, April 6th, the legendary “Best Foot Forward Europe Tour” starts in the Innsbruck skate hall and leads through a total of nine countries, including Belgium for the first time this year. This offers skateboarding amateurs an international platform to demonstrate their skills, creativity and passion and to compete with like-minded people. Last year more than 350 skaters from over 20 nations took part.

The passion for skating is the basic idea behind the “Best Foot Forward Europe Tour”, it is about celebrating the culture, connecting with other skaters and bringing the skate community together. This year the contest will once again be held in every location as an “open qualifier” in a jam format. Two participants drive in one round at the same time. Each starter has two minutes to prove themselves and unpack their best tricks. The best riders from the qualifier will ride in the “stopping finals” at the same time in rounds with two riders each in order to choose the final winners. Sponsors of the Best Foot Forward European Tour include Santa Cruz, Nixon and Red Bull.

There is no entry fee for the tour, anyone can take part, you just have to register in advance. Registrations are now possible online at www.blue-tomato.com/bff , and there are no age restrictions. This year the riders will compete again to make it to the final, which will take place in Berlin in late summer. The best three men and the first-placed woman from each stop will be there, and the participants will also be fighting for a place on the “Winners Trip” with organizer Blue Tomato to Florida. The winner of last year's Best Foot Forward Europe Final, the Dutchman Tijmen Overbeek, beat 98 other skateboarders at Tampa AM and claimed 6th place in the final - a huge success.

Participants collect points for the “World Rookie Tour Ranking”

“This year, Best Foot Forward is starting its seventh round in Europe and we will once again enrich the summer contest with many highlights with ten stops in nine countries,” explains Jonas Pernitz, Team Manager Event & Retail Marketing at Blue Tomato, who is organizing the tour Europe organized with his team. “We are particularly pleased to be able to serve the Belgian market with a stop in Antwerp for the first time. It’s exciting to see how the participants’ skating level increases from year to year.” All Best Foot Forward European events are also part of the “World Rookie Tour Ranking” ( www.worldrookietour.com ). This means that U18 skateboarders can collect points in their age group at every event and thus qualify for the World Rookie Tour Finals.

The grand finale in Berlin

The winners of all ten venues - new this year are Munich (DE), Antwerp (BE), Rotterdam (NL), Lausanne (CH) and Velenje in Slovenia - qualify for the grand finale in Berlin in late summer. There will be various workshops, product demonstrations and much more for spectators. The skaters have the unique chance of a paid trip to Florida, where they can take part in the legendary “Tampa AM” contest and compete with the best skaters from all over the world.
