ASSQ Encourages Skiers To Adopt The Right Habits In Ski Slope Safety Month

Thanks to an exceptional start to the season, marked by abundant snowfall, remarkable skiing conditions, and high visitor numbers at ski resorts, more Quebecers than ever are enjoying winter. In this context, the Quebec Ski Areas Association (ASSQ) wishes to remind everyone that a successful winter also depends on responsible and safe behavior in the mountains.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the ASSQ is launching the 3rd edition of the " Good skier, good player " awareness campaign , which aims to encourage skiers and snowboarders, regardless of their level of experience, to adopt the right reflexes on the slopes and to use ski lifts safely, so that everyone can have a positive experience at the resort.

To effectively reach all audiences, the ASSQ is deploying a dynamic campaign across multiple platforms, combining digital content, social media presence, and interactive initiatives. The ASSQ also invites the public to visit the Safety page of the maneige.ski website to find a wealth of practical advice and accessible content, in the form of short articles and video clips, covering topics such as:

  • the code of conduct in the mountains;
  • the safe operation of ski lifts;
  • safety equipment, such as wearing a helmet;
  • the signage;
  • prevention related to alcohol and drug use.

A safety awareness game has been designed on the Snapchat platform to reach younger people in a fun and engaging way, while conveying clear messages about good practices to adopt in the mountains.

In addition, the Ministry of Education has commissioned the agency Virus 1334 to deploy the Ski Faut Savoir tour . Throughout the month, a team will meet with skiers and snowboarders at fifteen resorts across Quebec. These friendly, on-site encounters will provide an opportunity to exchange information and raise awareness among users about safe practices. Visit the Ski Faut Savoir Facebook page for tour dates.

For over 40 years, the ASSQ has been working to represent and support Quebec ski resorts in developing best business practices. A non-profit organization, the ASSQ promotes snow sports, enhances the customer experience, and supports resort performance to ensure their long-term viability. Through initiatives like Ski Passe-Partout, which fund the Association's activities, more than 40,000 young people are introduced to skiing and snowboarding, as well as healthy lifestyle habits, free of charge each year.

In the context of climate change, the ASSQ is expanding its mission by supporting the industry and the public in the evolution of ski resorts and mountain activities. It is committed to fostering a sustainable environment for skiing and snowboarding and supporting its members' adaptation to the new realities of the ski industry.
