Alta Badia/South Tyrolean Dolomites: Maratona Dles Dolomites-Enel Participants'draw

Everybody knows that the Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel is a successful event, but we never fail to be amazed at the high number of requests that flood in each year to take part in the race. An incredible result yet again for the 33rd edition: 31,600 requests recorded on the website from 90 different countries all over the world and from all Italian provinces. This number helps us to understand just how important the Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel is for thousands of enthusiasts: an importance that goes beyond the race itself and that drives us to always do better.

As you know, for safety and practical reasons, the number of registrations cannot exceed 9,000, so we carried out the draw: the names of all the lucky cyclists will be published on the website www.maratona.it and for anyone whose name wasn't picked, there's the chance to take part by purchasing a charity registration.

CHARITY REGISTRATIONS
The Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel has always made its charity work one of its strengths. Thanks to the higher-priced registrations, the Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel is able to support concrete solidarity projects that help people in Italy and all over the world. This year, four different organisations will be able to take their work that one step further, thanks to the proceeds generated by our charity registrations.

1)      The non-profit/NGO "Insieme si può" (www.365giorni.org<http://www.365giorni.org/>), an association that has been a friend of the Maratona’s for years now, supporting a project linked to honey production in the Karimojong communities in northern Uganda.

2)      Healthy Seas (www.healthyseas.org<http://www.healthyseas.org/>), a Dutch association whose aim is to clean the planet’s oceans from marine pollution, including the so-called “ghost nets” that cause the death of an incredible number of sea creatures. This is the first year that we're supporting this association, and we're pleased to welcome them.

3)      Assisport Alto Adige (www.sporthilfe.it<http://www.sporthilfe.it/>), another association that we’ve been following for a number of years and that supports real sports talents - youngsters who would otherwise not have the chance to pay for themselves to take part in competitions.

4)      “Alex Zanardi BIMBINGAMBA" Association (www.bimbingamba.com)<http://www.bimbingamba.com/>, an association followed by one of our closest friends and that provides artificial limbs for children who have suffered amputation and who are unable to receive treatment from the health care system.

194 higher-priced charity registrations will be available to buy online (payment via credit card) from the website www.maratona.it<http://www.maratona.it> on 28th November 2018, from 6pm onwards.

The higher-priced registrations are broken down into three categories:
• 175 GOLD registrations at a price of Euro 250;
• 15 PLATINUM registrations at a price of Euro 500;
• 4 CRYSTAL registrations at a price of Euro 1,500.

Another 194 registrations (175 GOLD registrations, 15 PLATINUM registrations and 4 CRYSTAL registrations) will be up for sale from www.maratona.it<http://www.maratona.it> on 28th March 2019.
All information on the associations we support and how to buy a higher-priced registration can be found here:  www.maratona.it/en/charity-entries-2019<http://www.maratona.it/en/charity-entries-2019>.

HELPING COMMUNITIES AFFECTED BY THE BAD WEATHER
On 29th October, extremely bad weather in the Dolomites caused extensive damage, destroying millions of trees, roads, trails and damaging entire villages. The areas of Agordo and Livinallongo were particularly bad hit. That’s why the Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel Committee has decided to organise a fundraiser, with all proceeds going to the municipalities of Colle Santa Lucia and Livinallongo, who have seen the immense group of ‘marathoners’ pass through for years.

In addition to the 388 charity registrations permitted by the Maratona's regulations, an additional 70 higher-priced registrations will also be up for grabs; half on 28th November 2018 and half on 28th March 2019. There will be 40 Gold registrations at a price of €250 and 30 Platinum registrations at a price of €500.  All proceeds from these 70 registrations will go to the two municipalities: a small contribution to help these magnificent places get back to normality.

MARATONA eFONDO WITH ZWIFT: NEW YEAR'S EVE ON THE SADDLE
The virtual maratona was so successful in the last two years that, this year, it’ll be available on two different dates. The first eFondo will take place on Monday 31st December and, as always, will be held in collaboration with Zwift, the famous online community that has created a fantastic indoor training App which means you no longer have to train alone, putting you in live contact with other enthusiasts. Out of all those who complete the test, two cyclists will be chosen at random and they’ll be awarded a registration for the 2019 Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel. And that’s not all: there’ll also be a prize draw for the occasion thanks to the participation of our sponsors at the event. AN IMPORTANT CONFIRMATION: SELLE ITALIA TO PARTNER WITH THE MARATONA DLES DOLOMITES – ENEL FOR ANOTHER THREE YEARS
Selle Italia is one of the Maratona's historic partners: it’s been racing with us for more than twenty years. We recently renewed our sponsorship contract for another three years. For us, it is a source of great satisfaction that we can count on and partner with an Italian company that so successfully promotes “Made in Italy” throughout the world, exporting quality, innovation and ideas that are always cutting-edge.

AFTER A GREAT SUMMER’S CYCLING, HERE COMES A NEW SKI SEASON
A TASTE FOR SKIING CELEBRATES ITS 10TH EDITION
When Alta Badia’s ski slopes open on 1st December, the culinary season on the slopes also officially gets underway, on Monday 17th December. Ten Michelin-starred chefs will be taking centre stage at the 10th anniversary event, each representing one of the previous editions. In fact, this edition will be paying tribute to the many chefs who, thanks to their dedication and passion for their work, have made A taste for skiing the most prestigious culinary initiative in the Alps.

The concept remains the same: 10 gourmet chefs will be assigned to a mountain lodge on the slopes of Alta Badia, creating a recipe that will be offered to skiers throughout the winter season. Each chef will represent a different edition of the event and will create a recipe according to the motto #skitheitalianway. In fact, the chefs’ recipes will represent the authentic nature of Italian cuisine and Italian ingredients, using incredibly high-quality products. Each dish will be paired with a wine from South Tyrol, carefully selected by an expert sommelier from the same area, creating incredibly special and original combinations.
