Action Outdoors Launch 'bespoke Off-piste Courses' With UCPA In Chamonix

Action Outdoors, known for its UCPA holidays and courses throughout the French Alps, has launched a series of off-piste courses based in its very own chalet in the ski resort town of Chamonix.

Action Outdoors is the UK arm of the UCPA, a not for profit organisation that operates centres across the French Alps and runs courses for all levels of skier and snowboarder – from beginner to expert. Action Outdoors also operates specialist weeks including off-piste courses in Chamonix, France and further afield, including Japan.

Three levels are available – one as an introduction to off-piste skiing, another for skiers with some off-piste experience and a further level for more advanced and experienced off-piste skiers who would like to explore more technical terrain. The courses are led by qualified Mountain Guide and ski instructor, Seb Cazorla, a former member of the French national ski team who knows the terrain around Chamonix exceptionally well.

Accommodation is based in Chalet Les Pelerins, close to the centre of Chamonix. The chalet sleeps up to 10 people, with group sizes on the mountain kept to a maximum of 6 (with two Mountain Guides available).

Chalet Les Pelerins is located in Chamonix, around 10 minutes walk from the town centre. The chalet has five twin/double bedrooms, sleeping ten people and there’s a large living and dining room area and a hot tub.

The skiing takes place in the Chamonix Valley and sometimes beyond, to resorts such as Courmayeur in Italy, a 40 minute drive away through the Mont Blanc Tunnel. Days will be spent skiing where conditions are best at the time.

David Robertson from Action Outdoors, said: “We have been working with Seb for many years now but we wanted to formalise and structure these courses through our own chalet in Chamonix. Seb really knows his stuff and can not only help find the best snow, but also improve everyone’s skiing too – this combination of instructor and mountain guide is quite special and then throw in the national team mogul skier and a dash of French charisma and you have someone that people want to come back to again and again. It’s a fun week, but with some seriously intense skiing that will push everyone’s limit, whatever level they might be”.

Package: £1,429 per person, including 7 nights accommodation (twin occupancy), breakfast, 6 evening meals with wine, 5 days of off-piste guiding and instruction, 6 days lift pass (Chamonix unlimited also including Courmayeur and Verbier), local transport, transceiver, probe and shovel rental.

2020 Dates: January 26 and March, 8, 15, 22
