20th General Meeting Of Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG Held

At its 20th Annual General Meeting, Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG was able to look back on a successful financial year. Despite challenging conditions such as poor weather in the summer, very little snow in the winter, high energy prices, and increased regulatory requirements, the company managed to achieve a solid result. In winter, the Arosa Lenzerheide ski area recorded 1.4 million first-time visitors, reaching the second-highest figure after the 2021/22 season. In summer, Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG welcomed 167,000 guests, which, although below the five-year average, can be considered a respectable result given the gloomy weather. Total revenue amounted to CHF 38.0 million, and EBITDA was CHF 12.0 million. The bottom line was an annual profit of CHF 1.32 million, confirming the high level of LBB's performance of recent years.

This year, too, the shareholders have decided to repay 10% of the nominal value from the capital contribution reserves.

A year full of progress

A highlight of the reporting year was the commissioning of the new Stätzertäli chairlift, which ran smoothly from the start and was completed on time and within budget. The facility sets new standards in sustainability, as more materials and infrastructure were reused than in any other comparable project. The response from guests and employees was extremely positive, and the lift is already considered a pioneering project. The careful implementation was also praised by the agricultural sector. In addition to this major project, numerous other improvements were implemented, such as piste corrections. Important steps were also taken in the area of snowmaking. New shafts, pumping stations, and modern lances increase efficiency and enable better use of the short time windows with suitable temperatures for snowmaking.

Significant progress has also been made in the area of digitalization. The "al.digital" project, implemented jointly with partners Arosa Bergbahnen, Arosa Tourismus, and Lenzerheide Marketing und Support AG, has enabled the launch of a new CRM system that significantly improves guest communication through automation and the use of artificial intelligence. The new ticket shop, which has been redesigned to be more attractive, was particularly noticeable to guests. Over 90 percent of annual passes were booked online, and summer sales also increased.

This summer, Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG introduced a special adventure offering with the newly opened Hiking Line. The trail runs right through the bike park and brings together different groups of guests, combining nature experiences with spectacular views of the bike park. Despite mixed weather, LBB was able to further enhance its diverse summer offerings with themed trails, events, and mountain experiences. A total of over CHF 11 million was invested.

Change at the top

A key topic at the Annual General Meeting was the change in the Board of Directors. Felix Frei stepped down as Chairman of the Board of Directors after five years. In his final address, Frei thanked the employees and shareholders for their many years of support and hard work, which had once again led to a convincing result this financial year. Felix Frei is handing over a strengthened and stable company to new hands. His successor is Jürg Rötheli, who was elected by the shareholders. The 61-year-old lawyer brings with him impressive leadership experience as CEO, member of the Board of Directors, and President of several companies from various industries and functions, particularly in the government-related sector. He has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUAG MRO Holding AG since January 2025. At the same time, the Board of Directors introduced the new CEO of LBB: Reto Aeschbacher will succeed Thomas Küng, who left the company in the spring, effective October 20, 2025. Aeschbacher brings nearly three decades of experience at Scott Sports SA, where he had an impressive career culminating in his position as Chief Marketing and Chief Digital Officer. Aeschbacher himself expressed his strong motivation to further develop Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG as an innovative and reliable service provider, consistently focusing on the guest experience.

Future with vision

Investments in snowmaking remain a top priority. Particularly important is the planned expansion of Lake Heidbüel, which, with a four- to five-fold increase in water volume, would represent a decisive step toward snow reliability on the western slope. In addition, the new Scharmoin–Motta pipeline will significantly increase snowmaking capacity on the Heimberg–Urdenfürggli axis. The Sanaspans spring also enables the realization of a project that exemplifies the excellent cooperation with the municipality of Vaz/Obervaz.

Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG remains innovative in other areas as well. Next winter, a fully electric snow groomer will be tested for the first time, which not only improves the CO₂ footprint but also promises cost savings in maintenance. For guests, the slopes will be renamed "Weisshorn-Mulde" and "Die Schwarze," now "Lunar Lane" and "Black Viper." These highly popular slopes will also be given a correspondingly emotional feel. The Chillihütte is getting a larger terrace and has been renovated. The snowmaking system at the Valbella ski lift is being finalized. The technical upgrade has already been completed. A new Arosa Lenzerheide app awaits guests this winter with current information, a live piste map, ticket sales, and restaurant reservations, as well as a new, destination-wide voucher system.

As an immediate highlight, LBB announced the new Stone Gnome Trail on the Rothorn. These impressive figures made of local stone tell an exciting story for all ages and blend harmoniously into the alpine landscape.

Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG thus looks back on a year characterized by major projects, consistent sustainability, and innovative developments. The Board of Directors and Management are convinced that the course has been set for a successful future and that LBB will continue to play a leading role as a strong partner for the Lenzerheide destination.
