2024 Summer Events Calendar: Aspen And Snowmass Village

The 2024 summer events line-up for Aspen and Snowmass Village brings new events, such as Summer Après, as well as returning locals’ favourites like Heritage Fire, the Snowmass Balloon Festival, Aspen Ideas Festival and the Aspen Food & Wine Classic. Summer 2024 also celebrates historic milestones such as the 50th anniversary of the Snowmass Rodeo and the 75th anniversary of the Aspen Music Festival and School.  

Entertainment 

Summer Après - Snowmass Village (12 June - 25 August)

New this summer from 3-6pm every Wednesday to Sunday starting 12 June, head to Snowmass Village for fun and entertainment including live music at Music on the Mall, activities, games and special experiences. This new summer series entices locals and visitors to stay and play around Snowmass with happenings including Corn Hole Fridays, jazz and other live music, as well as a Community Ice Cream Social in Snowmass Town Park. 

Snowmass Rodeo - Snowmass Village (19 June - 14 August)

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this summer, the iconic Rodeo is a Snowmass summer staple, complete with authentic cowboys and cowgirls competing in all the rodeo classics, including barrel riding, saddle bronc and bull riding. New for 2024, unique acts will debut at each rodeo, while a special evening on 3 July commemorates 50 years of Snowmass Western Heritage, a 501(c)3 non-profit benefiting scholarships for the rodeo and local community. This summer will also see the unveiling of the new rodeo arena and grounds. The Snowmass Rodeo takes place on Wednesdays at 7pm, rain or shine. Doors open at 5pm for a BBQ Dinner and activities. 

Snowmass Balloon Festival - Snowmass Village (13-15 September)

The long-standing Rocky Mountain tradition features more than 30 festive balloons launching into the air from 7:30am-9am on Saturday and Sunday, and the return of the popular Night Glow on Friday evening. This year, spectators are encouraged to drive in, hike up or bike around, to take in the spectacular sights right from where the balloons take off in Snowmass Town Park. 

Food & Drink 

Food & Wine Classic in Aspen - Aspen (14-16 June)

Aspen’s unofficial start to summer and North America’s premier culinary event will gather world-renowned celebrity chefs and wine experts, including Aretha Ettarh, Danny Meyer and Kristen Kish, to Aspen for a three-day experience with iconic culinary leaders, innovative wine experts and game-changing beverage connoisseurs. Visitors will enjoy live cooking demonstrations, wine and spirit tastings, and listen to expert panel discussions.  

Heritage Fire - Snowmass Village (27 July)

Heritage Fire is a three-hour tasting event that unites live-fire cooking, family farms and local chefs who specialise in whole animal cookery. The walk-around reception offers an all-inclusive feast featuring thoughtful bites prepared by some of the most critically acclaimed kitchens from 15 cities. The festivities include fun and interactive activities, as well as the crowning of each city’s Heritage Hero, with the 800+ guests voting for their favourite bite of the day.  

Snowmass Déjà Vu - Snowmass Village (7 September)

This summer, the event organisers behind Snowmass Rendezvous return with Snowmass Déjà Vu, an homage to the classic Snowmass Craft Beer and Chili Pepper & Brew festivals from years past. On 7 September from 1pm-5pm, this retro-inspired party will feature free-flowing beers, engaging activations, with plenty more surprises in store. Expect a slopeside, summer day full of tastings from favourite Colorado breweries from the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond. 

Snowmass Wine Festival - Snowmass Village (14 September)

Experience an incredible afternoon of wine, food, sights and sounds at the Snowmass Wine Festival. Hosted at Snowmass Town Park, the festival features over 30 tables of wine from around the world, as well as food from local restaurants, music and a silent auction to benefit the Rotary Club of Snowmass Village. All proceeds are used for scholarships, local, and international grants through Snowmass Rotary. 

Music & Film 

Snowmass Free Concert Series - Snowmass Village (13 June - 22 August)

Celebrating 32 years of free live music this summer, the Snowmass Free Concert Series, a locals’ favourite, long standing summer tradition, returns to Fanny Hill every Thursday evening at 6:30pm, 13 June-22 August. The weekly outdoor series features a spectrum of sounds including country, reggae, rock, funk, bluegrass and more. The 2024 programme promises to be the most exciting to date, featuring the likes of Brooke Alexx, Southern Avenue and Young Dubliners.

JAS June Experience - Aspen (20-23 June) and JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience - Snowmass Village (30 August - 1 September)

Founded in 1991, Jazz Aspen Snowmass is a not-for-profit organisation that brings world-class jazz musicians to Aspen and Snowmass Village. The organisation’s JAS June Experience will feature renowned jazz artists such as Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and The Headhunters to grace the stages of 12 iconic venues across town from Belly Up and The Wheeler Opera House to The Aspen Art Museum and Hotel Jerome. JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience at the end of August will feature world-class performances on multiple stages in Snowmass Village including Sting, Brandi Carlile, Tim McGraw, Lukas Nelson, OneRepublic, The Black Crows and Michael Marcagi.  

Aspen Music Festival and School - Aspen (26 June - 18 August)

Founded back in 1949, the Aspen Music Festival and School is viewed as one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in North America, famous for its concerts, musical training programmes and over 400 classical music events and opera performances throughout the year. During the summer, hundreds of events are scheduled over eight-weeks, including orchestra concerts, chamber music, operas and classes, with the 75th year set to feature celebrations on all 53 nights of the season. 

Aspen Filmfest - Aspen (17-22 September)

Internationally recognised Aspen Film organises a major film event every season, along with an extensive education programme: Aspen Filmfest, Academy Screenings, Aspen Shortsfest, Summer of Cinema and FilmEducates. With a mission to enlighten, enrich, educate and entertain through film, Aspen Film stimulates thought, encourages dialogue, and broadens our understanding of our world and selves through the diverse spectrum of ideas presented by filmmakers worldwide.  

Arts & Culture 

Aspen Ideas Festival - Aspen (23-29 June)

Celebrating 20 years of Ideas in 2024, the Aspen Ideas Festival brings leaders and thinkers from around the world for intimate panels, interviews, lectures and interactive sessions covering topics from business and the economy to arts and sports. The event will include expert-led roundtable discussions, enriching activities such as yoga, guided nature walks and art tours, hands-on workshops, as well as access to unique content sessions in venues that celebrate the natural landscape. 

Anderson Ranch Annual Art Auction & Community Picnic - Snowmass Village (13 July)

Anderson Ranch’s largest community event, the Annual Art Auction & Community Picnic offers an exciting day of live music, children’s art activities, a picnic lunch and more. A highlight of the summer arts and culture scene, the event takes place Saturday 13 July from 11am-3pm at Anderson Ranch. The Annual Art Auction will feature more than 100 works of art in a silent auction. This community event is open to the public.  

Snowmass Art Festival - Snowmass Village (13-14 July)

The Snowmass Art Festival is a juried art show featuring original handcrafted artwork. This free two-day event showcases local Colorado and national artists, representing a wide array of mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, glass, wood and more. Entry to the festival is free, while artwork is individually priced. 12pm-8pm on Saturday, 10am-4pm on Sunday.
