Outdoor Research Expands Plus Size Clothing For Women

Outdoor Research, the Seattle based manufacturer of outdoor apparel, launched its 2022 plus-size collection of outdoor apparel for women — the most comprehensive line of technical apparel designed to work as a system available to date on the market.

The collection of technical apparel includes waterproof rain shells, synthetic insulation, fleece, hiking and mountaineering pants, sun layers and base layers, all designed to help women of all sizes move with confidence on the trail. The collection is now available at OutdoorResearch.com and select specialty retailers.

In Fall 2022, Outdoor Research will expand its women’s Plus collection with two ski kits, including jackets, pants and bib, winter insulation layers, winter fleece and base layers, and technical sportswear.

Launch of the spring Plus collection follows a successful launch of OR’s Fall 2021 men’s and women’s extended sizing program, which includes shells, insulation, base layers, winter apparel and ski kits ranging from XXS to XXXL. Combined, the two collections represent the first truly technical apparel and layering system in inclusive sizing for outdoor enthusiasts. The effort was led in partnership with a panel of six advisors to the Outdoor Research R+D team, including athletes and ambassadors Bennett Rahn, Sam Ortiz, Megan Banker, Kaila Walton, Rochelle Murphy and Britta Nelson. The committee worked hand-in-hand with Outdoor Research to bring to life a collection of outdoor apparel that empowers outdoor adventures for all.

“My hope is that this collection will inspire more people to get outside, and make them feel more welcome doing so,” said Liz Wilson, Senior Vice President of Global Product Creation at Outdoor Research, and one of the key OR team members leading the effort. “Working with our advisors and watching this collection come to life has been a career highlight. But this is just the beginning. We plan to continue and build on this collection as we work to become a more inclusive brand.”
