Axess: Smart Access To Tyrolean Glaciers For Pitztal-Kaunertal

The Tyrolean glacier ski areas Pitztal-Kaunertal are starting the 2022/2023 winter season with new access solutions. Equipped with the innovative hardware and software solutions from Axess, the Kaunertal Glacier Road and the lifts in the glacier areas are well equipped for the digital future.

Kaunertal Glacier Road

Like a meander, the Kaunertal Glacier Road meanders from the valley floor up to the glacier center at 2,750 m above sea level. Embedded in a unique landscape and the constantly changing natural spectacle, the Kaunertal attracts many thousands of visitors every year. The three access lanes have been equipped with the latest Axess products to ensure smooth access and payment of the toll road. Two cash registers are equipped with the Axess SMART POS for personal sales and advice. The third access lane can be operated by the guest using the self-service method. Here, the guest pays the toll directly at the Axess TICKET KIOSK 600 and can also buy their cable car ticket – summer and winter. All three access lanes have a barrier from the Axess PARKING product group. Thanks to integrated license plate recognition, the barrier opens automatically for season ticket holders and annual ticket holders, allowing them to pass through the toll station quickly. If the guest has already purchased their ticket including the toll fee at another point of sale, the barrier also opens automatically using the number plate stored and nothing stands in the way of the 26 km long ascent through six alpine altitude levels.

Axess Solutions in the glacier world

AX500 Smart Gates NG Flap are installed at the valley station of the Pitztaler Gletscherbahn, which ensure smooth and easy access for skiers and summer guests. The ski resort comprises a total of four ski areas, all of which will be equipped with a total of 60 AX500 Smart Gates NG in turnstile or flap designs at the beginning of the 2022/2023 winter season. The flexible Axess solutions are ideal for year-round operation in order to provide safe and comfortable access for skiers, but also for bikers, families with prams or people with disabilities.

The Pitztal-Kaunertal already brings its guests to enjoy skiing in the city center of Innsbruck. As part of a marketing campaign, a TICKET KIOSK 600 has been temporarily installed in the Rathaus Galerie, where skiers can already buy their ski passes in the city centre. Not only a relief for the checkout staff on site, but also a perfect opportunity for outdoor advertising and a successful start to the season.

A total of 7 TICKET KIOSK 600 are available in Pitztal-Kaunertal for self-service ticket purchases. The TICKET KIOSK 600 enables a 24-hour ticket service quickly and conveniently and relieves the cashier's workload at peak times. The 27" color display with touch function offers a good overview of information, whereby the viewing height of the monitor can be adjusted ergonomically. This means that the ticket machine is also ADA-compatible. With a variety of payment options and equipped with NFC technology, the TICKET KIOSK 600 is an indispensable component in the age of digitization.

Axess RESORT.SOLUTIONS

RESORT.SOLUTIONS offer ski resorts and year-round destinations a comprehensive range of software applications. The administration of locker, ski school, rental and also the order and goods management of the catering establishments can be processed via RESORT.SOLUTIONS. The only system that manages everything centrally under one large roof. In the future, the Pitztal-Kaunertal will rely on the Axess software solutions, which can be gradually expanded and introduced thanks to the flexible design options.

The planning of the introduction of Axess RESORT.F&B for all catering establishments of the Kaunertal and Pitztal Gletscherbahnen is already in full swing.
