Zeal Optics Celebrates Earth Month With “Shades For Seas”

To celebrate Earth Month and our planet’s waters, Zeal Optics is kicking off its 3rd annual “Shades For Seas” campaign. For every pair of Zeal sunglasses, goggles or accessory lenses sold globally in April, one-thousand square feet of coastline will be cleaned over the next year in partnership with Plastic Oceans International.

This initiative ties into Zeal Optics’ mission of diminishing the amount of petroleum-based plastic that finds its way into the waste stream. Zeal produces all its sunglasses using plant-based and recycled materials and is focused on reducing its environmental footprint in all its material usage and business practices.

“Last year we cleaned nearly thirteen million feet of coastline around the globe, and this year we are looking forward to exceeding those totals,” says Zeal Optics Director of Marketing, Mike Lewis. “Our hope is to continue raising awareness behind the effects of plastic pollution while inspiring consumers to consider the impacts of their purchases.”

For every pair of Zeals’ sold globally during the month of April, Zeal Optics will partner with Plastic Oceans International to clean up one thousand square feet of coastline, in locations across the Americas, Europe, and Australasia over the next year. Plastic Oceans International is a US-based non-profit organization working globally to end plastic pollution and to foster sustainable communities worldwide. They operate with the belief that we can and must act at the local level to create change on a global scale.

“We are excited to once again partner with Zeal Optics, who shares our mission to incite action that can lead to a healthier planet,” explains Plastic Oceans COO, Tod Hardin. “With their manufacturing processes and plant-based materials, Zeal truly wants to make a difference through the sales of their products, and we are looking forward to another successful collaboration in 2022.”

“Shades For Seas” launched in 2020 for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, when Zeal removed 5 pounds of plastics (22.7 kg) for every pair sold on zealoptics.com on Earth Day, removing 1,000 pounds of plastic. Since then, they have expanded the program to include all of Earth Month.

Follow the “Shades For Seas” campaign on social media with the hashtag #Shades4Seas, where Zeal Optics will share other ways to reduce your environmental footprint, along with updates on how much plastic the community has helped remove from our world’s oceans. This Earth Month, go a step further and help Zeal Optics protect our seas and waterways, while experiencing the world like never before through Zeal’s unrivaled optics and lens technologies.
