Wintersteiger Sets Up At Zermatt’s Testa Grigia – The Highest Ski Rental In The Alps

When visions become reality: After years of pioneering work, the continuous, year-round connection between Zermatt and the Italian winter sports resort of Cervinia was opened. Since July 1, 2023, the Matterhorn Glacier Ride II has made it possible to cross the highest Alps by cable car.

Surrounded by the breathtaking mountain panorama of the Alps, the new itinerary offers thrills, luxury and maximum comfort. An experience in a class of its own – floating over the fascinating mountain landscape of Italy and Switzerland with a view of the unmistakable Matterhorn. Alpine Crossing offers a new dimension in cable car travel, the highest Alpine crossing by cable car between 2 countries.

At 3,458 m, the two Swiss companies Zermatters and Slalom Sport operate the SnowXperience Plateau Rosa with snow tubing for action-seeking customers or a beginner's area for first attempts on skis or snowboards. The range is varied and all equipment can be rented on site, from head to toe. The highest mountain station in Europe, the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise at 3,821 m, can be reached in just 4 minutes.

WINTERSTEIGER was able to equip the highest ski rental in the Alps on the Testa Grigia with the Easystore rental system and 96 ski depot spaces. In addition, a further 614 ski depot spaces will be installed in the coming weeks along the Alpine Crossing connection from Zermatt to the Italian border. Once again an unforgettable experience for our employees, who were able to carry out the planning and installations at such dizzying heights.
