Family-Focused and Beginner-Friendly Zones
The resort offers fantastic value, cementing its reputation as one of Europe's most family-friendly ski resorts, with children under eight skiing for free across the entire Tignes-Val d’Isère ski area. This allows families to easily explore the slopes and enjoy the dedicated Val Kids area, which features an adventure slope, play space, and picnic area. Beginners and families can enjoy easy skiing areas at altitude, such as Solaise, boasting three green slopes and nine blue slopes, plus eight modern ski lifts, including the PIM-PAM and POUM magic carpets, ideal for learning to ski. The Trace du Gypaète is excellent for families due to its gentle, fun adventure trail featuring playful, themed modules like a vulture tunnel and a giant xylophone. For those looking for a break from the slopes, Village Perdu above La Daille offers a whimsical and accessible adventure with suspended wooden walkways and cabins built among the trees, allowing children to safely explore a unique, playful forest environment.
The Tourist Office will also be rolling out a comprehensive programme of free entertainment activities for all ages, including sledging, cross-country and downhill ski races, torchlight descents, and animal watching with the Vanoise National Park wardens. The full calendar of events is available on the resort’s website.
Budget-Conscious Accommodation & Dining
Val d’Isère offers various accommodation choices for travellers, from self-catering options for budget-savvy skiers or packages through trusted brands. UPCA offers comfortable, all-inclusive accommodation, walking distance from the slopes, for those looking for activity-focused holidays and a social, active, budget-friendly experience. Self-catered apartments at Pierre et Vacances in La Daille and Odalys residences offer functional, slope-accessible accommodation at a more affordable price point.
Resort-wide, a diverse selection of restaurants both on and off the slopes cater to all budgets, proving that an exceptional mountain dining experience doesn't always come with an exclusive price tag. For those seeking delicious meals without breaking the bank, try Le Garage, known for its double smash burgers and Neapolitan pizza, or Fondue Factory, a local favourite for cheese lovers. On the slopes, Marmotte restaurant offers a wide choice for all skiers, including fresh lasagna and pastas, burgers, and soups. In the village, Maison Chevallot offers a selection of delicious desserts by Best Pastry Chef Patrick Chevallot, and the famous ham & beaufort tourt. Not forgetting Après-ski, skiers can head to Chez Jules for traditional hot wine or Diling Diling for lively cocktails, hosting 50% off at happy hour, from 6 - 8 pm.
Explore the Slopes from Home with Grand Mountain Adventure 2
This season, Val d’Isère is taking its immersive experiences to a new level by partnering with the creators of the popular mobile game, Grand Mountain Adventure 2. Launching alongside the resort's opening on November 29, 2025, an exclusive Val d'Isère map will be featured in the game, marking the first time a real ski resort has been modelled and integrated into the franchise. Players will be able to virtually explore the resort's famous slopes and even ski the iconic Face de Bellevarde black run from their smartphone.
As snow begins to fall on the Tignes-Val d'Isère ski area, snow fanatics can stay up to date with details of slopes and lift openings, as they are announced live on the Val d’Isère website along with weather forecasts and webcams.
