Uswitch Issues Hilarious Analysis Of The Number Of Bookable Skiing And Snowboarding Locations Across Europe.

Here at SIN we see a lot of press releases; some are interesting, some are hyperbolic, some are optimistic but we rarely see a press release associated with a multi million pound business which is 'laugh your ski socks off' wrong.

Uswitch is a website which allows users to "compare and switch gas and electricity suppliers, also compare broadband deals, mobile phone deals, car & home insurance, credit cards, boiler cover & more."

Well apparently Uswitch's broadband team is not too hot on comparing the number of 'bookable' snowsports locations in Europe. We've been searching for ways to describe their wonderous 'research' and currently the closest we've been able to find is an apparent inability to differentiate between their cubitus and interiora.

They say "As part of their Adventure Index campaign, the broadband team at Uswitch have analysed the number of bookable skiing and snowboarding locations across Europe. According to the findings, the country that takes the top spot for offering the most places for skiing and snowboarding is France - with a total of 76 bookable locations."

Yes that's right, 76 bookable ski and snowboard locations in France. Seems a bit low doesn't it..well brace yourself

"Alongside France, Italy scored second on the list, with 15 bookable locations. Next to this, we have Switzerland with nine locations, and Austria with a total of six."

So Austria has 6 ski areas, well that's not quite right.... there are more than 400...they are a little closer when it comes to Italy, rather than 16 it has north of 250, Switzerland has more than 300 rather than 9, France has around 250, not 76... which seems to drop it to 4th place...

Closer to home they have managed to find the indoor ski centre at Braehead but completely failed to notice 5 mountain based Scottish ski areas with y'know lifts and pistes and stuff...In a separate press release they manage to miss Scottish ski areas, again giving the UK a range of 0 to 15 places to ski. No, that's not right either., neither 0 nor 15

Now it's to be hoped that their broadband team is a little more switched on when it comes to real price comparisons. Uswitch's revenue was reported to be £140.85 m in FY, 2018, so they must be doing something right, but it doesn't extend to snowsports.

The PRs were most insistent that we credit any use of the content or findings with a link back to https://www.uswitch.com/broadband/best-place-in-europe-to-book-an-adventure/

We're delighted to... We did ask them if they could explain their methodology..twice but they're presumably busy listing the ski resorts in Chad and looking for the Andorran navy.

Now sit back and enjoy the marvel that is "Table 1: European countries with the most skiing and snowboarding locations". On a positive note, at least they've spelled the country names correctly, which is good, as nothing else is right.
