USA Nordic Partners With NYU Langone Health

Health and wellness of athletes is paramount for any successful sports organization. USA Nordic, the national leadership organization for ski jumping and nordic combined, is entering into a collaborative partnership with NYU Langone Health to provide a wide range of health and wellness services. NYU Langone Health is one of the nation’s premier academic medical centers, a world-class, patient-centered, integrated academic medical center, known for its excellence in clinical care, research, and education with 350+ locations throughout the New York area.

Under the partnership with USA Nordic, NYU Langone’s sports health experts will provide preventive and injury care, nutrition education, field testing of athletes, counsel on strength and conditioning as well as integration of new technologies to help athletes achieve their goals.

“The partnership with NYU Langone will provide our athletes with leadership and counsel from a remarkable team of medical professionals to ensure they are prepared to compete at the highest level possible,” said USA Nordic Sport Director Jed Hinkley, an Olympic nordic combined athlete himself. “In particular, it’s an opportunity for us to partner with NYU Langone’s sports medicine team on innovative approaches to training with its cutting edge research in elite sport.”

As a part of the partnership, NYU Langone will provide all national team and junior national team athletes with annual physicals and in-depth screenings at its facilities in New York City or USA Nordic’s training base in Lake Placid, N.Y.

NYU Langone and USA Nordic are also implementing a new national advisory council to advance health and wellness initiatives for nordic athletes. The focus will be development of high performance training protocols and injury prevention that can apply to everyone from youth to junior to collegiate to elite and weekend warriors.

The partnership will also be utilized to help USA Nordic in its return to sport throughout COVID and post-pandemic.

“The partnership between NYU Langone and USA Nordic will help its athletes achieve maximum performance and health,” says Laith Jazrawi, MD, chief of the Division of Sports Medicine at NYU Langone Health. “NYU Langone’s world-class specialists and facilities will enable us to bring multidisciplinary care and science-based tactics to the organization.”

Athletes will also have access to the NYU Langone Health Sports Performance Center in New York City. This facility’s unique, state-of-the-art equipment used for sports performance testing allows staff to create personalized training programs for athletes.

The multi-year partnership will begin this spring as USA Nordic’s athletes begin preparation for the 2021-22 Olympic season.
