US Ski And Snowboard Hall Of Fame Announces Cancellation Of Annual Induction Ceremony, Goes Virtual Instead

The US Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame announces the cancellation of its annual induction and all Snowsport History Celebration (SHC) supporting events scheduled for December 9-13, 2020 in Sun Valley, ID, due to travel concerns and other health risks related to Covid-19.

The Hall and its partner organizations, the International Skiing History Association (ISHA) and North American Snowsports Journalists Association (NASJA), will instead present a series of virtual broadcasts this fall highlighting SHC features, including the 2019 ISHA Awards, a virtual version of the 2020 SnowStyle Fashion show, media briefings, and exclusive interviews with Hall inductees.

All broadcasts will be hosted by Hall of Fame inductee and extreme skiing icon Dan Egan with help from their friends at Pugski.com, who provide promotion of the series and a platform for the broadcasts.

The series finale will be the Hall of Fame Class of 2019 Virtual Induction and Fundraiser where viewers can tune in and watch the event live online and see each inductee's tribute video and acceptance speech. All Hall of Fame Class of 2019 members will also have the opportunity to join future classes on stage for their well-deserved full recognition.

Full details can be found at www.skihall.com or on the Hall's Facebook page. Dates and details for all broadcasts will be available soon.

The US Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame thanks all sponsors and will offer full recognition of their support when the Hall broadcasts these special events to an even larger audience online. The Hall also offers a special "thank you" to to Sun Valley Resort for agreeing to host the annual SHC events in March 2022.

The next LIVE Snowsport History Celebration is slated for April 7-11, 2021 in Snowmass Village, CO, where a full schedule of events is planned to resume. The 2019 Women in Industry award winner, Cheryl Jensen, will also be honored in Snowmass Village alongside this year's winner. The Class of 2020 will be inducted at the Westin Snowmass Village on Saturday, April 10, 2021.

The Hall's Induction Magazine will be distributed to all event attendees, sponsors, and guests physically; in addition, it will be made available online for added readership. The Hall thanks all those individuals and businesses who placed ads.

The Hall is encouraging all attendees to consider donating their ticket purchases to aid with the virtual presentations in these trying financial times. During the online induction event, the Hall will recognize each person who donates and will also offer those individuals future event tickets at no cost.

To donate your ticket purchase or to request a refund, contact the Hall at events@skihall.com.
