Thomas Kung To Be New CEO Of Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG

Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG will have a new CEO from June 2021. Thomas Küng is moving from Brunni-Bahnen Engelberg AG to Lenzerheide. The Lucerne resident succeeds Peter Engler, who is leaving the company after eight years.
The Board of Directors of Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG (LBB AG) has unanimously appointed Thomas Küng as the new CEO. The 39-year-old from Lucerne has been managing director of Brunni-Bahnen Engelberg AG for almost nine years. After graduating with a Master of Arts in Management from the University of Friborg, as Deputy Managing Director and Project Manager at grischconsulta AG, he gained extensive experience in strategy consulting and conception for mountain railways, tourism organizations and railway companies, before he joined Brunni-Bahnen as CEO. Among other things, Thomas Küng was involved in the development of the corporate strategy of LBB AG (2008/09) as part of a consulting mandate.
Felix Frei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of LBB AG since the end of September 2020, is convinced of the capabilities of the new CEO: “His track record at Brunni-Bahnen is impressive. I and the entire board of directors are convinced that despite and precisely because of his relatively young age, he is ready for the next step. Even if the size of the year-round mountain railway operation in Engelberg is not comparable with the dimensions in Lenzerheide, the diversity of the mountain railway operation with restaurants, hotels and leisure activities means that it has skills in all areas that distinguish it for the task ahead. "
Thomas Küng is looking forward to the new task: «Since my time in mountain railway consulting, I have followed the implementation of the various expansion projects and ideas in Lenzerheide. I am pleased to see that the Lenzerheide holiday region is once again one of the top destinations in the Alpine arc. I am convinced that it will improve its competitive position even further. I am pleased to be able to help shape the future and further development together with the board of directors, motivated employees and members of the management. The challenges after Corona will be great. All the more, after the major investments in recent years, the year-round experience and service quality will have to be the focus of our efforts. We want satisfied, returning guests and we want to inspire. "
Thomas Küng succeeds Peter Engler
The current CEO of LBB AG, Peter Engler, prematurely terminated his employment at LBB AG at the beginning of October 2020 due to his candidacy for the office of Landammann of Davos. He was employed by LBB AG for a total of eight years, the past five years as CEO. Peter Engler will leave the company as planned. When Thomas Küng takes up the position, an orderly handover is ensured. "The departure of Peter Engler leaves a big gap and we are losing a very strong personality that I have come to appreciate very much in my short time as Chairman of the Board," emphasizes Felix Frei. "The strong development of Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG in recent years, both in winter and in summer, is also his great merit", Felix Frei thanks the outgoing CEO Peter Engler.
