Swiss Ski Looks Back On Successful Seasons

Swiss-Ski looks back on one of the most successful seasons in its more than 120-year history. In a multi-part video interview, co-presidents Urs Lehmann and Peter Barandun discuss, among other things, the sporting successes, the booming youth and grassroots events, the "Snow Sports 2050" strategy, and the legacy of this year's two home World Championships in Lenzerheide and the Engadin.

In addition to 26 World Championship medals, 134 podium finishes in nine different sports at the World Cup level, and six World Cup crystal globes, the 2024/25 season also saw Swiss-Ski once again take first place in the nation's rankings of the Alpine Ski World Cup. It was one of its most successful seasons ever.

"The fantastic Swiss results at the competitive level act like a magnet," says Peter Barandun, referring to the record number of Swiss-Ski events for juniors and recreational athletes. The world's largest children's ski race, the Grand Prix Migros, is the best example of this. "Seeing so many shining children's eyes is the most wonderful thing for me."

Urs Lehmann adds: "We cannot stand still here; we must continually improve." To remain successful in the future, it is important, for example, to continue the excellent coaching training and to take advantage of the opportunities offered by digitalization.

Urs Lehmann and Peter Barandun discuss what the two co-presidents of the association remember most from the 2024/25 season, what challenges Swiss snow sports are currently facing and will face in the near future, and how Swiss-Ski can continue its wave of success in the future in a ten-part video series as part of Swiss-Ski's digital annual report.
