Swedes Isak Davidsson & Oliver Movenius Announce Retirement

Two profiles in Swedish freeskiing are now saying goodbye to the international competition scene. With impressive credentials and strong results, Oliver Movenius, Riksgränsen snowboard and ski club, and Isak Davidsson, Bjursås IK, have now chosen to end their careers in the national team. New chapters in life now await – but still with skiing in focus.

"I don't see my career as over, I see it mostly as a new chapter"  says Isak Davidsson.

Isak Davidsson, Bjursås IK, is stepping down after a brilliant career with several highlights. Among other things, he took home the gold in slopestyle as recently as the 2025 Swedish Championships and won a total of four Swedish Championships medals during his career – two gold, one silver and one bronze. In the same year, he also won the prestigious SuperUnknown competition – an internationally prestigious competition that has highlighted several of the sport's future stars over the years.

At the World Cup level, Isak has been consistent with several top-15 finishes. His best result came in 2024 in Laax, Switzerland, where he finished eleventh in slopestyle. With 28 World Cup starts under his belt – 21 in slopestyle and 7 in big air – he has been a familiar face on the tour for many years. In 2020, he already showed that he was someone to be reckoned with internationally, when he took third place in the European Cup in Vars, France.

"The sport is extremely tough, the competition is very fierce. The tricks have run away, so I feel that I don't really have those tricks in me and then maybe it's time to plan for something else," says Isak.

When he looks back on his time in the national team, there are a few moments that have made an especially big impression.

"Things that I will remember and that perhaps stick out especially in my memory are when I got the personal best place at the World Cup. It was in Laax and it's a hill that I dreamed of riding since I was little, so to get there and perform well was really fun, says Isak and continues:

"Another memory, although it is a bit sad, was when Hugo Burvall and I fought for the last Olympic spot and it was decided during the last competition. Even though it didn't go my way, I learned a lot from it so I take it with me as a great lesson," says Isak.

Oliver Movenius, Riksgränsen snowboard and ski club (RISK), has had a strong and stable presence in the national team in parallel with Isak. With four Swedish championship medals – including silver in big air in 2025 and a gold from previous years – he has shown class on home soil. Internationally, he has been responsible for two victories in the European Cup in 2022, a clear testament to his high level.

His World Cup debut came in 2023 in Bakuriani, Georgia, where he achieved a best result of 21st place. In total, Oliver Movenius has 17 World Cup starts under his belt, twelve of which in slopestyle and five in big air.

"I've been driving for quite a long time and for many years now, so I just felt it was time to do something different, says Oliver.

When he now looks back on his career in the national team, there are several highlights to highlight.

"My favorite memory is probably when I made it to the World Cup final for the first time in Stubai, but then I thought the whole World Cup in Georgia was really fun, it was a fun experience," says Oliver.

Even though their competitive careers in the national team are now over, it doesn't mean that skiing is over for Isak and Oliver. On the contrary – both look forward to continuing to be part of the skiing world, albeit in new ways.

"I think it's really fun to be involved in film, so I'll try to film some, so I'll probably always be active in the ski park scene in some way," says Isak.

For Oliver, skiing will also be a big part of life after the national team. "I will ski of course, but it takes quite a lot of time to make a commitment and compete. Then there are many other things I want to do, maybe do a little more free skiing and do some film stuff"

Isak and Oliver have been part of Freeski Team Sweden for several years and have contributed both in terms of results and personally. Now new paths await – and the Swedish Ski Association thanks them for their efforts and wishes them good luck in the future.

"Isak and Oliver have been appreciated both as skaters and teammates. We have great respect for their decision and look forward to following what they do next – whether it is behind the camera, in the park or in something completely different," says Oscar Wester, national team captain.
