Strong Technical Support For The 2021 Alpine World Ski Championships In Cortina From Leitner, Prinoth And Demaclenko

From 7 until 21 February 2021, the Alpine World Ski Championships will be held in Cortina d’Ampezzo (IT), in the heart of the Dolomites.

To hold this important sporting event, the Cortina 2021 Foundation has entered into a strategic alliance with LEITNER, PRINOTH and DEMACLENKO, which will support the Foundation in holding the 2021 Alpine World Ski Championships as a comprehensive technical supplier.

Since last winter, the “Col Druscié” 10-passenger gondola lift by LEITNER has been in operation in the Tofana ski resort in Cortina and enables a quick ascent to the Col Druscié, where several races will also be held. The new installation, the first gondola lift in Cortina, replaces the first section of the 50-year-old “Freccia nel Cielo” aerial tramway, which links Cortina d´Ampezzo (1,224 m) with the Cima Tofana summit, one of the highest summits in the Dolomites (3,244 m).

Recently, LEITNER has also started the construction for the “Son dei Prade – Bai de Dones” gondola lift. This new installation, a gondola lift in two sections, links the Tofane pistes with the Cinque Torri ski resort at the Falazarego Pass and therefore plays an important role in the long term for the tourism development of Cortina, also in view of the Olympic Games in 2026.

For the optimal preparation of the World Championships pistes, PRINOTH provides 11 LEITWOLF snow groomers as well as a vehicle of the model BISON with a winch. All vehicles are compliant with the Stage V emission standards and create the ideal preconditions with particularly low emission values, in order to ensure a top-class competition. Furthermore, the new LEITWOLF h2MOTION can be admired at the Alpine World Ski Championships in Cortina.

During the course of preparations for the 2021 World Ski Championships, Tofana Srl has decided to expand the existing snowmaking system. DEMACLENKO has reinforced the “Pista A del Col Druscié”, on which the slalom discipline will be held, as well as the “Pista B del Col Druscié”, which will serve as a training piste during the competitions, with highly efficient fan guns. In total, DEMACLENKO has supplied 40 new snow guns, three pump stations, the Snowvisual 4.0 software and 91 concrete pits, including field lines.

"We are proud of the being able to tread the path towards the 2021 World Championships together with the Cortina 2021 Foundation. This event offers a major opportunity to bring the magic of Cortina closer to the world. Our innovative technologies and our unique products in a state-of-the-art design and at the highest quality level will make a concrete contribution to this” said Anton Seeber, CEO of the HTI Group, which also includes the brands LEITNER, PRINOTH and DEMACLENKO
