Snowbird Summer Activities Open
Snowbird summer activities opened on Saturday, June 15, 2019.
Continuing one of its longest and snowiest seasons ever, Snowbird announced that the resort will stay open after Father’s Day and continue on a Saturday and Sunday basis as conditions permit. Meanwhile, as skiers and snowboarders continue to enjoy the late-season conditions, Snowbird will begin opening its summer activities.
“Snow levels and terrain coverage at the top of Snowbird are still so good we’ve made the decision to keep the ski season going,” Snowbird General Manager Dave Fields said. “With the fortunes of above-average seasonal snowfall and a relatively cool spring, Snowbird will be offering something for everyone this weekend with skiing, Brewfest and summer activities.”
This season, Snowbird received more than 711 inches of snowfall which has been protected by its north-facing slopes and cool spring temperatures. Snowbird remained open Fridays through Sundays until Father’s Day on June 16, 2019 and then switched to Saturday and Sunday operations only with a final closing day still undetermined. “The start of summer activities will include many fan favorites such as the Alpine Slide, Vertical Drop, and Ropes Course, just to name a few,” Fields said.
The weekend marked the opening of the 11th Annual Brewfest , June 15 and 16, with more than 30 local and regional breweries serving samples of craft beers. Admission to Brewfest is always free; attendees must pay for all beverages. Each participating brewer will be sampling three to five beers highlighting their distinctive craft. Snowbird will provide food for purchase during Brewfest. More than two dozen local craft vendors will also had merchandise for sale. Live music was provided each day from noon to 6 pm.
The longest season in Utah means Snowbird is also offering discounted tickets for the duration. Guests can present a 2018-19 season pass from any other mountain, and receive a specially priced $50 lift ticket. Check the spring pricing webpage for up to date information.
Averaging more than 500 inches of annual snowfall per year and conveniently located just 29 miles from Salt Lake City International Airport, Snowbird is North America’s most accessible alpine resort destination.
