Smith Debuts Comprehensive On-Snow Protection For Juniors

Hard charging and thrill-seeking kids across the world are hitting the mountains every winter, progressing the sport of skiing and snowboarding among a new generation of riders. For over 50 years, Smith has crafted dynamic products and pioneered innovations to maximize these endeavors and is excited to announce its offering a comprehensivecollection of junior’s helmet and eyewear protection featuring elevated technologies designed for racing, resort runs, and all-mountain riding.

For young racers, Smith offers FIS-approved helmet protection in two styles; the pinnacle Icon Jr. helmet (MSRP $350, MIPS only) and the new Counter Jr. helmet (MSRP $250, MIPS only). Both models feature ample coverage provided by Koroyd® - a series of crumple-zone cylinders that crush uniformly on impact – to provide lightweight, durable, energy-absorbing and ventilated impact protection. The use of engineered EPP foam core in the front of both helmets also enhances durability from repeat gate impacts, while the addition of the MIPS® Brain Protection System reduces rotational forces caused by angled impacts to the head in case of a crash. For slalom disciplines, the Icon Jr. and Counter Jr. helmets also have a compatible and removable nylon chin guard (sold separately).

Little rippers exploring runs all over the mountain can now experience the new Survey Jr. helmet (MSRP $180, MIPS only), emulating the impact protection of its adult counterpart with MIPS® and zonal Koroyd®, while offering distortion-free vision in the integrated visor to minimize fuss and fog from traditional goggles. The built-in visor also offers an over-the-glass option for youth wearing corrective frames. The Survey Jr. also features Smith’s Grow With Me™ technology, offering a singular shell size with dual-stage liner system to cover the largest size range in kid’s helmets today.

For rippers in resort, the new Glide Jr. helmet (MSRP $90 with MIPS, $70 Non-MIPS) offers the widest youth size range of any model in the Smith line, including an extra-small for getting even the littlest kiddos on the hill. The ultra-lightweight design includes intuitive dial control to adjust fit, fixed vents for ample airflow and to keep goggles fog-free, and super soft plush and fuzzy liner for added warmth and comfort.

All Smith youth helmet models are available with MIPS® Brain Protection System to reduce rotational forces caused by angled impacts to the head in case of a fall.

The complete juniors snow sports offeringwill be available globally Fall 2021 at select specialty retailers and online at smithoptics.com.
