Salomon North America To Join Forces With Protect Our Winters

Salomon North America has announced its partnership with Protect Our Winters (POW), a leading climate advocacy group for the winter sports community. As a partner, Salomon will join some of the most recognized outdoor brands, including Burton, Patagonia, and The North Face, in pushing for systemic solutions to climate change.

“Salomon is passionate about our commitment to protecting our playground. We are motivated to enrich people’s lives by enabling them to play outside, and to help us achieve that we have a strong list of dedicated partners focused on climate action, which now includes Protect Our Winters,” says Jenny Taylor, VP of marketing for Salomon North America. “The team at POW is taking incredible action and we’re looking forward to working closely with them in the coming years.”

Salomon is joining POW’s brand alliance at the $25,000 level. The North American partnership will have activations split between the U.S. and Canada, starting December 2021. At this level, Salomon will receive training on climate science, communications, and strategy in order to become prepared, knowledgeable and poised to lead on climate. POW will provide Salomon with climate news and opportunities for leadership, staff and customers to take action on national and state engagement campaigns.

“POW aligned with Salomon because Salomon is a significant player within the snowsports community and broader outdoor community. Salomon is already taking major action to become more sustainable as a brand, so we are excited for the company’s support in advocating for systemic policy change,” says Mario Molina, executive director at Protect Our Winters. “We’re excited to welcome Salomon into our brand alliance, as the brand naturally aligns with POW and recognizes its responsibility and influence.”

Salomon and POW are already working together to enact climate action by elevating the voices of key climate advocates. Salomon TV just released Sam & Me, a short film presented in partnership with Protect Our Winters.

The film, directed by and starring professional skier/filmmaker Mike Douglas, follows 13-year-old Sam Tierney’s journey to climate advocacy. In the 30-minute short film, Douglas plays the role of mentor to Tierney, helping him work through his climate anxiety and turning it into action by sharing parallels to his career as a professional skier.
