Rittisberg Opens New Combination Lift

Numerous guests came to take part in the first ride on the new Rittisbergbahn. The flexible ascent aid made of chairs and gondolas enables an expanded range of winter leisure activities and is intended to lead the Rittisberg into the future.

The largest adventure mountain in Styria is located in the Upper Styrian holiday resort of Ramsau am Dachstein: the Rittisberg. The popular family excursion destination celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. An anniversary celebrated with a major investment. More than eight million euros went into the construction of the new TMX 6/10 combined lift, which was officially opened today, Friday, October 21, after six months of construction. Numerous guests accepted the invitation and took part in the maiden voyage to the mountain station at 1500 meters above sea level. Also present was Ramsau Mayor Ernst Fischbacher, who underlined the sustainability of the project in his speech: “The intention for this project was to invest in quality. With courage and commitment, the team has succeeded

However, the new cable car not only increases the quality of transport, but also creates an expanded winter offer, as Rittisbahn operator Manfred Engelhardt emphasized in his speech: "The combination of chairs and gondolas adapts flexibly to the needs of our guests. In this way, we can no longer only offer skiing on the Rittisberg, but also many other types of winter sports.”

New leisure offer from this season

In recent years, the range of leisure activities in summer in particular has been massively expanded. The new combination lift now makes this possible in winter too. "Thanks to the new ascent aid, in addition to skiing, we can for the first time create an offer in the areas of cross-country skiing, ski touring as well as winter and snowshoe hiking," says Engelhardt. This will be implemented this winter. From the coming season, the Rittisberg will expand the more than 200 km long cross-country network of Ramsau am Dachstein with the new high-altitude trail "Rittisberg 1500". The route is suitable for both classic and skating styles and will be 5.2 kilometers long.

Hut hiking now also in winter

Culinary hikes are now also possible for the first time in winter thanks to the new combined lift. Starting at the mountain station, winter hiking trails lead to the summit cross and the surrounding huts, which await you with crackling open fires and local specialties. For touring skiers and snowshoe hikers, a comprehensive offer can also be created from the coming season: "The new cable car will make it possible to use the Rittisberg with any winter sports equipment in the future," says Engelhardt. Another plus point: The new combination lift also makes it easier to transport the sledges for the illuminated night toboggan run on the Rittisberg.

Upswing for the entire region

Due to the new offer, a corresponding increase in visitor numbers is also expected. And not just on the Rittisberg. "This new infrastructure will strengthen tourism in the entire Schladming-Dachstein region," Engelhardt is certain. The beneficiaries also include gastronomy and the hotel industry. After all, the new combination lift is intended to make the Rittisberg and thus the entire holiday region even more attractive for guests.
