Record Early Season Snowfall Totals For Sunday River Resort

Sunday River has received record natural snowfall totals this season with nearly three feet falling so far. This is the most snowfall the resort has seen before Thanksgiving in well over ten years.

With three storms in just the last week, including six inches of new snow today and continued snowmaking efforts, Sunday River announced the opening of South Ridge and terrain accessed by the Chondola lift for this weekend. The resort plans to continue terrain expansion as weather allows with snowmaking. Other anticipated terrain increases will include Spruce Peak, which will add a variety of terrain for Thanksgiving Weekend.

Sunday River opened for the season on October 19 with weekend-only access, for daily operations on November 9, and presently has terrain available on the Locke and Barker Mountain peaks.

“Everyone is thrilled about the snow. Conditions are excellent and we are expanding open terrain quickly. Between the improvements to our snowmaking system over the summer and nearly three feet of natural snow this season, the 2018-2019 season is off to a great start,” says Sunday River’s Director of Communications, Karolyn Castaldo.
