Quebec Ski Resorts Prepare For Summer Activities And Mobilize To Promote Careers In Tourism

The Quebec Ski Resorts Association (ASSQ) and the Regroupement des Parcs Aquatiques du Québec (RPAQ) are proud to join the Quebec initiative to stimulate recruitment and promote jobs in their sector. Thus, the two organizations will take part from May 3 to 6 in the first edition of the Open House on Tourism , which will mobilize some 80 Quebec businesses and organizations simultaneously in order to deal with labor issues in the tourism industry. Within the framework of this event, the participating organizations will offer exclusive access to their backstage area by welcoming the explorers for a day to conferences, meetings, training sessions and mostly free visits.

The arrival of spring and the melting snow are far from signifying the end of jobs in the mountains of Quebec. With the diversification of mountain experiences and the addition of four-season activities, there are more and more year-round jobs and seasonal activities that require additional staff in order to offer a distinctive experience to the many visitors. Among these, let us think in particular of ski lift mechanics, lifeguards, the many supervisory positions in different departments, not to mention administrative jobs. This is why, as the summer season is fast approaching, the ASSQ and the RPAQ are joining the Quebec Council for Human Resources in Tourism ( CQRHT), instigator of the Open Doors on Tourism event.

A momentary immersion in the heart of the trades

It is in nearly 80 companies in Quebec and through several hundred sometimes fun and sometimes educational activities that explorers and seekers of new challenges will be able to learn more about the job and career prospects available. During the first edition of the Open Doors on Tourism , the curious will be able to find out more about the following companies, among others:

  • Bromont, mountain of experiences
  • Mont Temblant resort
  • Mont Orford Ski & Golf Corporation
  • Owl's Head
  • Valcartier Vacation Village
  • Safari Park
  • Granby Zoo
  • Registration — required to participate — is now open and places are limited. ! Young and old are invited to discover the program and book their activities at jobsaexplorer.com .

" We are convinced that the Open Doors on Tourism initiative will promote jobs in ski resorts and water parks in Quebec and will allow participants to facilitate the discovery of rewarding jobs," says Yves Juneau, who heads the ASSQ and the RPAQ.

The happiness industry is a host of jobs for all tastes

Whether it is to explore a new professional avenue or discover a permanent or seasonal job, the tourism industry offers a multitude of enriching experiences. There are many opportunities to highlight their talents and skills for students, retirees, newcomers, people with disabilities... in short, for everyone. ! Regardless of one's background, the important thing is the desire to be part of a community committed to making the region shine and making visitors' stays memorable.

The project was made possible thanks to the financial participation of the Ministry of Tourism (MTO).

The CQRHT is the sectoral labor committee for the tourism industry. For 25 years, the organization has worked in collaboration with partners in the tourism industry, namely associations, unions and tourism businesses. Their mission: to ensure vigilant monitoring of the evolution of the tourism workforce and to promote consultation among all partners in order to reach a consensus that will make it possible to take common and structuring actions to meet the HR challenges of the tourism industry.
