PillerseeTal Promotes Values Based Tourism For The Coming Winter

Winter in the PillerseeTal is all about a return to fundamental values, sustainability and stylish enjoyment. With gentle winter themes and authentic offers, as a supplement to the core themes of skiing, cross-country skiing and winter hiking, the region wants to act as a role model and guarantee safety.

The longing for winter holidays, the anticipation of skiing, cross-country skiing and winter hiking, the desire for relaxation in the great outdoors has noticeably increased among guests this year - as has the need for security. In the PillerseeTal, therefore, preparations for the coming winter season have been going on for some time, which in certain respects brings a return to fundamental values. So, in addition to the core topics of skiing, cross-country skiing and winter hiking, gentle moments of pleasure are on the agenda. Instead of big entertainment events, quiet, natural offers in small groups come to the fore. From evening lantern hikes to guided winter and snowshoe tours to llama trekking, there will be a range of high-quality experiences for guests and locals alike. Even at the Advent market at Pillersee, which is carried out in compliance with all safety requirements, stylish enjoyment and high-quality, regional products are in the foreground. “This year, our guests want to finally go skiing, cross-country skiing and, above all, spend a carefree time in our beautiful region. We agree with all service providers that we have to create the conditions for a safe and, above all, complete winter season, ”says TVB managing director Armin Kuen. The region's high level of top-class sports expertise will continue to be strengthened. The Biathlon World Cup, the Freeride World Tour and the FIS Continental Cup take place and, thanks to their own safety concept, do not cause any problems with regard to their implementation.

Role model in terms of sustainability and authenticity

The corona pandemic and the associated security measures will also pose major challenges for the region in the coming winter. “Safety first and therefore there will be no entertainment events, including the New Year's Eve fireworks. This year is not the time to encourage large gatherings, ”confirms Kuen. Together with the mayors of the region, it was decided to forego public New Year's Eve events and fireworks and to put them to the test for the coming years. The PillerseeTal has joined the new Tyrolean sustainability and climate strategy “Living with a Future” and wants to show responsibility as a climate change adaptation region (KLAR). “The values in society have changed a lot. Fireworks, to name just one example, are simply no longer up-to-date. We want to take into account social change, the need to live sustainably and the need of people for a sustainable natural environment and living space and, to a certain extent, also act as a role model, ”said the mayors of the five PillerseeTal communities in unison. Further measures in terms of nature conservation, sustainability and living space quality are to follow in the region. To this end, there is currently an ideas competition under the title “Green Inspiration”. So there are great challenges waiting, which TVB managing director Armin Kuen sees above all as an opportunity: “We have learned in the last year and a half that we can achieve an incredible amount in the region if we all stand together. The agreement with the mayors, service providers and partners makes me extremely positive with regard to a sustainable and viable future for our PillerseeTal. "
