Park City 2019 Has Successful Pre World Champs Summer Inspection

The FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships 2019 in the United States marked another major milestone last week as the FIS technical officials carried out a successful summer inspection of the three venues that will host competitions.

Deer Valley Resort, Canyon Resort and Solitude Mountain Resort - will play host to what will be the biggest FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships with more than 700 athletes from 36 nations anticipated to take part.

Hosting the summer inspection was Local Organising Committee Chairman Calum Clark with U.S. Ski and Snowboard officials. He was joined by representatives of the three resorts, together with technical experts and course builders. FIS was represented by its quartet of Sport Directors, Joe Fitzgerald, Uwe Beier, Roby Moresi and JP Baralo who provided insight on the competition courses and infrastructure.

With the locations and schedule of events formally approved, and a record 25 medal competitions planned over the 10-day long World Championships, there was much discussion focused on the logistics of hosting the massive programme and ensuring all the small details are in place to ensure the World Championships run smoothly when faced with such a compact schedule.

“Our objective with the FIS World Championships is to bring the very best athletes in the world to Utah and show them a great celebration of sport,” said Organising Committee chair Calum Clark of U.S. Ski & Snowboard. “This has been a true community event with outstanding partnership from the resorts and organisations like the Park City Chamber/Bureau and Utah Sports Commission.”

“There is not a doubt that the U.S. Ski and Snowboard staff and the three resorts have an unparalleled pedigree in hosting major events,” said Joe Fitzgerald on behalf of the FIS officials on site. “It was clear from the inspection that they are ready to once again put on a memorable event that we are all looking very much forward to as the highlight of the 2019 FIS Freestyle Skiing, Snowboard and Freeski calendar.”

A detailed schedule of starting times will be announced later. Every event will be broadcast live to the world with a domestic schedule to be released this fall. Additional information can be found at 2019worldchamps.com.
