New Office Building For Hinterglemm Lift Co Opens

The new business and office building of the Hinterglemm mountain lifts, located at the foot of the Zwölferkogel mountain, was officially opened with a festive ceremony.. Following the official blessing by Father Rudolf Weberndorfer, the management of the Hinterglemm mountain lifts declared the building open.
The new location itself looks back on an exceptionally long and eventful history. Where modern office and commercial spaces now stand, the Wiesern elementary school was opened as early as 1890 – an educational institution that shaped life in the valley for more than a century and was continuously expanded. Numerous local generations were taught here before the school was finally relocated to Saalbach in 2022.
With the acquisition of the property by the Hinterglemm mountain lifts in 2022, a comprehensive transformation process began: parts of the building were already adapted in the spring of 2023 for the Austrian Ski Federation's (ÖSV) organizing committee for the 2025 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, the gymnasium and kindergarten were converted into staff rooms, and in February 2025 the site served as the official World Championship headquarters. In the spring of 2025, the retail spaces and the first floor were also renovated, and this transformation was finally completed with the Hinterglemm mountain lifts' move in in August 2025.
The new location creates tangible added value and sends a clear signal for Hinterglemm and regional cooperation. Local businesses such as Raiffeisenbank Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Viehhofen, the event agency Ixxalp, H2S construction and project management, Haarteam Hasenauer, and the Katschner bakery enrich the building and contribute to a diverse usage concept.
“It is increasingly developing into a lively meeting place in the heart of Hinterglemm. Through the collaboration with our regional partners, a center is being created that enables short distances, sets new impulses and benefits both locals and guests – while at the same time bringing a piece of local history into the modern age,” emphasize Peter Mitterer and Hans Georg Bachmann, managing directors of the Hinterglemm mountain railways.
