New for winter 2022-23
  • This winter, in Samoëns, the lift pass is free for children aged 8 and under! Most resorts offer a free lift pass to children up to 5 years old.
  •  A new 4-star MMV Club Residence, located in the heart of the village, has just opened, and it will welcome its first winter holidaymakers as from next 17 December! From the residence, there is easy access to the “Grand Massif Express” cable car, which serves the Grand Massif ski area. The 102 warm apartments are elegantly decorated, and they feature balconies to make the most of the sunshine until the end of the day. The residence, which is built like a chalet with stone and wood, was awarded the “Silver Pyramid” prize for its low-carbon building design. After a long sporting day, you can also relax in the pool, sauna and hammam, or in the outdoor hot tub. For further relaxation, you can book a massage - www.mmv-holidays.co.uk/en
  • This winter Samoëns is proud to host the World ice swimming Championships. This fast-growing activity for experienced swimmers will take pride of place during the coming World ice swimming Championships in the Lac aux Dames, at Samoëns! In fact, the resort is used to staging the French championships for the activity, as it did in 2020 for example; Samoëns is to stage the 5th edition of the World Championships from next 12 to 15 January. The competitors (600 swimmers from 33 countries, including 15 swimmers from the UK) will race in the lake waters (under 5°C) in the knowledge that Neoprene wetsuits are banned! All the swimmers will thus be wearing swimsuits, in the pure tradition of ice swimming. It is also to be noted that the key race in the competition is over 1,000 metres.
  • Samoëns has many excellent restaurants. Visitors can enjoy two new places this season.
A few months ago, Marie-Paule took up the challenge of opening “The Accordeon, bistrot canteen”. A place like no other. The place, in the centre of Samoëns, provides an alternative to ordinary aperitifs by proposing a fine selection of wines, local beers, fruit juices, etc. It is open all year round and all day, and its team can serve you a range of snacks! You can find sweet or savoury snacks to taste and share. The surroundings are ideal for relaxing, making the most of things or even working! A real living space where events, meetings and cosy concerts are held regularly. Fabio Grocery and Café is a friendly new place where you can go to taste delicious tapas, while drinking some good wine or some good local beer. The Fabio also provides gift baskets, panettones, pandoros, chocolates, and a range of sweet and savoury products to discover throughout the winter in the grocery corner of the restaurant.
  • Well-being and health stem mainly from the environment. The village resort of Samoëns has fully grasped the fact and it is taking several steps with the aim of preserving the environment via a major issue: looking after the fine “Nature destination”. Here are some examples of actions taken: -Sensors will be installed in the village to make precise measurements of the quantities of fine particulates and take actions in the light of the results found. -Two public electric recharging stations are provided to enable recharging of electric vehicles. -The municipality has acquired electric tools and vehicles to meet almost all its needs. -The most polluting heavy vehicles that are used to clear snow in winter or transport equipment in summer comply with the latest environmental requirements.
