New & Established Stars Selected For The 2025/2026 Swedish Ski Cross National Team

During the winter of 2025, it was the young skiers who offered the best Swedish ski cross placements on the international stage, and now the national team is being rejuvenated with two new talents who both delivered during the JVM. The ski cross national team for the winter of 2025/2026 consists of a dynamic mix of established stars and hungry newcomers, who together drive the generational change that the sport needs in Sweden.

This season's national team selection reflects what the goal is for this season, to take ski cross sport forward and upward, not only this Olympic winter but also in the longer term. Two brand new skiers have been selected, both with advanced championship placements from the past season that show will and early experience. Sebastian Engelbrekts took home a gold at the JVM in Isola 2000 and Måns Abersten has performed in both ski cross and alpine, with top-10 individual and team placements from the JVM as the main results. They come into a close-knit team with profiles such as Sandra Näslund on a strong comeback from injuries, David Mobärg who is at the top of the world on his best days and young shooting star Uma Kruse Een who is not afraid of physical close battles with the more established skiers. There is a power and a joy of skiing in the team to regain a leading position for the sport, both at home and internationally.

The ski cross national team has just completed the spring fitness tests that will form the basis for the training planning for the summer. Now they are entering a period with a focus on strengthening themselves to be able to perform at their best in four demanding runs in the same day. The new and younger talents train physically largely together with the older and more experienced ones, as a natural way to also jointly build the mental strength of the team.

Two skaters are already ready for the Olympics, after David and Erik Mobärg each received an early golden ticket at the SOK's first selection in May. This gives them both peace of mind for training for the summer and fall, where they can focus on the big goal of the winter, to be in shape for Milano Cortina in February 2026.

"It is a season with the Olympics as the obvious highlight. We have a strong team with good chances for both the Olympics and the World Cup, with some new skiers who will be exciting to follow. We aim to once again be the world's best national team in ski cross", says head coach Eric Iljans.
