New “Dachstein Run” Attracts Around 1,000 Participants To Ramsau

Great premiere for the new “Dachsteinlauf”, which took place for the first time in Ramsau at the weekend : Fantastic weather and optimal conditions on the cross-country ski trail attracted around 1,000 Nordic athletes from all over Europe and even the USA to Styria. In recent years, so many participants have not even taken part in the popular predecessor event “Tour de Ramsau”. This year, the TVB Schladming-Dachstein, as the new organizer, presented an innovative concept together with WSV Ramsau with some attractive changes to the competitions and the route. The revival of the tradition of “people’s cross-country skiing” proved to be a real recipe for success.

None other than ORF star Philipp Jelinek, known from the TV show “Fit with Philipp,” ensured an optimal warm-up on Saturday. Jelinek is himself an enthusiastic hobby cross-country skier and then took part in the Dachstein Run himself (98th place in the 10 km skating competition). In addition to four exciting races, the participants were also offered a great supporting program. A special highlight was the Euroloppet European Championships 2024, which was run on the new route. And there's apparently no need to worry about the next generation of cross-country skiers at the moment: more than 130 young participants achieved considerable success in the children's and student races.

The full enjoyment in one run The Nordic athletes were enthusiastic about a lot of sporting action and the new route with 42 kilometers on the perfectly prepared trails over the Ramsauer Plateau. The motto was: “The full enjoyment in one run”. There was also a shorter round of 10 kilometers for those new to competition and for teams. The new “pleasure run” combined cross-country skiing with regional cuisine. Various dishes from local businesses could be tasted over a five-kilometer route. “Event taken to a new level”

Mathias Schattleitner, managing director of the organizing TVB Schladming-Dachstein, was pleased with the successful premiere of the Dachstein Run: “We are overjoyed that our newly designed format worked so well and that we were even able to achieve a record number of participants. For us, this is a great confirmation that we have taken the right step by reorienting this sporting event as the 'Dachsteinlauf' for a broader target group. Thank you to all partners and participants who helped take this event to a new level.”
